In a few hours time, the richest handicap in the world. Any views on the runners?
My initial selection would have been Fawkner, but had a tough race in the Cox Plate last week -- so swerving that one.
Swerving Protectionist also for reasons I can't quite articulate, even with one R Moore in the saddle.
Admire Rakti a deserving fav, although topweight. Impressive winner of the Caulfield Cup -- a run that emphasized his class.
Gatewood. Gosden's, but has yet to run at this distance.
My three against the field:
Sign-Off. Carries a penalty for winning a big handicap on Saturday, but is still bottom-weight on 51kg.
Opinion. Complete outsider, but runner-up in the Sidney Cup over tonight's distance a couple of months ago. Will bet E/W.
Mutual Regard. Ebor winner. Trained by Johnny Murtagh, and for that (emotional) reason alone warrants a very small little E/W bet of my money.
Good luck with your own selections if you play tonight.
