Michael Jackson...

there are lots of great performers Trackside..but not so many influential people though..thats why it adds to greatness

Elvis were a great performer..but if Eddie Cochran had lived he would have overshadowed Elvis in many ways ..also Buddy Holly.

great performers..there are so many

Just seen bits and pieces of it, and would tend to agree with that, EC1. Almost surreal that this is all happening back at the Staples Centre.

With regards to his influence, I find it very hard to see how those who can't appreciate his talent can state so categorically how uninfluential he was etc. (and that's a general comment BTW, not aimed at anyone in particular).

Something fitting about having his end played out in the glare of the public spotlight.

Edit: having the daughter speak was too much.

he was a great performer Track..thats enough surely for the fans.

its about enjoyment isn't it?..bands/ artists that caught my imagination when I were 15-18 hold a special place with me..its same for everyone..they are years when you are open to influence more than any other time i reckon.

i'll bet most people who listen/like music will tie their favourites into this time in their life.

Can all the fuss die down after tonight, please?

Not a hope Shads this is the fist of many I do hope they don't take him to all of them, and having the children up there on stage is all a bit much,
boy can that rev. speak who needs a mike when he's in town,

The Phone compneys must be making a killing if you wanteed to get away from it all then perhaps you should have gone into Big Brother I would bet on a bust up in there then. 1/14

Some of the way the front covers of the main tabloids have been edited since his death (front covers because I don't read them!) indicates that they still think their is still some market value in portraying the man as a "whacko", and some elements of people in society (that are still concerned about his life and death) must be buying these papers because of that.

I can't help thinking a large part of the hysteria from people (with all views) is the fact he tryed to change his skin colour, and not any percieved acts of child molestation. It's quite possible black people can't understand why he tryed to abandon his origins, and white people do not like the idea of a black superstar that could infiltrate what is predominantly "their" pop music, and then turn in to one of them.

Not saying anyone who disagree's with him on here who may be white or black is like that, but if so, they should show the same contempt for people who get their genitalia cut off to become a woman, or vice versa, and the same for anyone else who deviates from "social norms" that society dictates. If you want to live in a society that dictates what you are as opposed to what you dictate yourself to be and want to be (within the law) then make that clear from the outset.

It's not only the skin colour change is it that was some nose job, and hows this for a conspiracy

He could not do the 50 shows .......so they hired a stunt double

and that's who you see dancing all recorded and now that,s what your going to get instead,

I do have to admit that I find it very hard to beleav man walked on the moon in 1969 when in 2009 it still takes 2 hours to drive across London or get to the end of the road if it snows.

The conspiracy theory was an observation Andy, not an invitation to clog the place up with digressions:p

Whaaaat? What are you on about??

Seems that La Toyah is convinced her li'l bro was 'murdered' - but not in a particularly conspiratorial way, rather more like Elvis was done in by the 10,000 prescrips written for him in the last few months of his life by his oh-so caring doctor. She said that Michael's quack was prescribing an immensely powerful drug for him which should be administered only in hospital, where oxygen would be administered concurrently with it. Apparently, there was a special 'oxygen' room where the doc administered this stuff to Michael regularly, and from which everyone bar the two of them was banned.

I've no doubt that it's a case of yet another doctor caught in the headlights of being a celebrity quack and never knowing when to say 'no' to their client's every whim, and then finally throwing all sense out of the window and prescribing more and more exotic crap. He's apparently gone into hiding some place - now, there's a surprise!
