Very depressing ran like a drain . Tongue tied one has to fear a wind problem . If so I hope they will admit it took about two years to admit Black Jack Ketchum had developed one .

Needed the run first time out on deep ground. We saw AFC improve markedly on his winter form when hitting the frame in March and I would expect similar for the current champ. 5/1 an overreaction.

Cole Harden and More Of That ran themselves to a standstill. Not McCoy's finest ride but he probably feared he couldn't let CH get away with an easy lead. Cool ride from Johnson on Medinas who probably didn't need to run better than before to win. I expect the form to be turned around as the season wears on.

He looked plenty big enough in the parade ring. I wouldn't worry too much about today.

I cant really comment as where I am at the moment internet reception is awful so I couldnt watch the race. However knowing Jonjo I would bet my bottom dollar this was just another case of him training one on the racecourse. I did have an eye on the betting and in a matter of a minute he went from 1.49 to 1.7 on the machine. He was matched for thousands and someone in the know made a bundle.

Judging by the quotes in the press JP didn't seem all that happy albeit that AP seemed somewhat sanguine . For a horse that sailed through last year unbeaten , admittedly before beating Salubrious at Cheltenham at a much lower level it was still a mighty disappointing effort . His performance in March was so brilliant it was a real comedown.

i don't think you had to be in the know looking at size of him..i would think anyone watching knew he wasn't 100%

Certainly gives hope to the contenders.
The likes of Briar Hill and Beat That.
Think Hendo is going to fire 2 bullets at the World Hurdle. Beat That obviously. Also Blue Fashion is now on that trail too. He is very interesting.

He is ..and some right judges have him at 150s... :)

As of now the Champion Chase and World Hurdle are open to all comers.
Great news if you subscribe to the great uncertainty that is NH racing.
Very likely some chasing careers will be put on hold; if you have an improving 145 plus staying hurdler you could do worse.

The Demise of More of That is a bit premature. He was visibly overweight Saturday.

Monksland is supposedly not too far off a track return and Lieutenant Colonel will probably go the 3 mile route after today.

Testing ground at Newbury is no place for an unfit horse, and the stable is not in great form anyway but the sight of a tongue strap was not encouraging either.

another aspect was that the front two went hard..and medinas just sat back and picked up the pieces from two tired horses after the last

Agree. I said as much soon after the race:

More of that was steadily brought along last year, its just he was running off what turned out to be a seriously underestimated handicap mark so he was entitled to win half fit. He is a big gross horse to my eye and I wouldn't be giving up on him yet, what with the stable being quiet as well.
