I'm trying to compile a list of horses who turned racing into a literal art form. Not necessarily the fastest or most accomplished of horses, rather the ones whose jumping transcended the perfunctory and entered the realms of pure grace.

Three examples

Jair du Cochet (granted he missed one or two in each clip but when he was good, he was sublime)

Tingle Creek

Sanctuaire

Style is an entirely subjective matter settled in the eye of the beholder. A point emphasised by the fact the aforementioned three all had very different ways about getting from a to b, yet they all looked majestic in doing so.

Obviously, nobody will nominate anything as artistic as JdC's form, but given the vast wealth of cumulative experienced witnesses reading this post, I'm sure there are a fair few who could be in the running for silver based on style.

I always used to enjoy watching Kildimo , gratuitous link to the '87 a sun Alliance with Midnight Madness in just because it's rare to find it!!

Sprinter Sacre at his best is breathtaking
And if anyone can find the 2006 grand military gold cup, the way Happy Hussar jumped that day was a lesson in how to do it. ( though I am heavily biased !)

Sprinter Sacre as a novice at Doncaster immediately caught my imagination and is the best jumper I have ever seen his leap 4 out that day was like a stag with wings

Border Incident and Pendil were two others who we grand lepers as was Gay Trip.

Had a soft spot for Kildimo (ditto) and for Bradbury Star who were a joy to watch

Hoo La Baloo was one of my favourite jumpers. He caught my eye when jumping like an absolute stag in the novice chase on Tingle Creek day, and really attacked his fences every time I watched him run.

Speaking of Tingle Creek, he'd have to be in any list of most exciting jumpers.

Mon Parrain in his first race in the UK, at Sandown in 2011. I remember commenting at the time how beautifully he had jumped.

Flemenstar was a sight to behold, I wonder if he'd have won that Lexus if Lynch had reined him just a tad more.

Bit of a boring choice but Dessie not just jumped beautifully but exuded such a love of doing so it was a joy to watch.

Monet's Garden - he always looked as though he loved what he was doing
Twist Magic - on a good day I thought he was something special
and my personal favourite - Sizing Europe

Frankie Figg's jumping of the National fences was superb - they should show a recording of it before every Aintree meeting.

Martin

Best Mate around Cheltenham . His jumping in his second GC was breathtaking.

Wayward Lad just about anywhere

Best Mate a cracking lepper right enough, Adross. Both he and Edredon Bleu were exemplary over their fences.

Fu*cks knows what went wrong with Racing Demon.

Somersby can be brilliant over his fences and make some terrible howlers too .

Whilst I see why Best Mate never achieved the ratings of Kauto and Denman - the Racing Post putting LOng Run ahead of him in the ten best jumpers since the paper began was certifiable .
