I've been trawling through some old racing related pics this morning and found this amongst my collection of negatives. For a bit of fun can anyone name this rather famous horse?

Indian Skimmer? In fact the more I look the more I'm convinced its her - she was a very pretty rose grey with a white sock on her off fore. Loved her - one of my favourites and also one of her trainers favourites as well I believe.

Okay here's a crop from another old print. Can you name the occasion? I'll put the whole picture up if someone guesses correctly.

She won me a pretty penny Jinny when taking the Prix De Diane Hermes (At a woeful price! :(), completing an ante-post treble of:

English Derby -Slip Anchor

English Oaks - Unite

French Oaks - Indian Skimmer.

Stephen Craine rode Toca Madera in race for Liam Browne. He was the fastest horse on the Curragh that year. Going into the dip, SC said he was travelling as fast as he ever went, thought he had a chance when suddenly DB left him standing. Then he realised what REALLY good horses were like! Until Frankel I thought El Gran Senor, DB and Zafonic the most electric 2000 Gns winners in my time. Ah the memories. Tks Scara

Glad it brought back some good memories edgt.

Speaking of electric pace nobody ever seems to laud Erhaab, (Spilling?) but I remember being bowled over by his Derby win. He just seemed to sprout wings.

Would I be right in saying Sharrood won a nursery for Dick Hern and Sheikh Mo.

Yes. After running unplaced on his debut at Newmarket in a big field of maidens, Sharrood won conditions events at Goodwood, Chester and Doncaster before signing off for the season in a 7.3f nursery at Newbury's September meeting. Under 9-9, including a 6lb penalty, he went off 6/4 fav in a field of twelve and won by a neck from John Dunlop's Highland Chieftain with the third horse five lengths away.

the pace collapsed in Erhaab's Derby as it did in Rooster Booster's Champion Hurdle..this made both those winners look better than they were

Mister Baileys really stretched these beyond comfort..and intersky falcon went 7f pace early in that CH
