Must object to lumping Chardonnay and Mercedes together. Mercedes is a proper old fashioned name. Slightly odd for a child, but old ladies have to be kids at some stage.

Mercedes is a popular name in Spain. It means Mercy or Grace. I think it's a lovely name.

And what's wrong with Liam or Charlie? (Both names within our family.)

I know someone who has taught kids by the name of Willie Twaddle and Cleopatra McCudden.

Well spotted, Flagship. I'm surprised it took until post number 30 to get a reply :)

Pocahontas McGuire

Three years ago when I bought a Norwegian Forest kitten I had a choice of two who were up to show standard, Pocahontas or Annie Oakley :what: Regardless of what they looked like I chose Annie Oakley purely because of the name  There was no way I wanted to be associated to anything called Pocahontas in a show ring

Is it not spelt not spellled
Well, it's certainly not spellled, and you should have a question mark... :P

However, to clarify, both spelled and spelt can be used as past tenses or past participles of the verb. Spelt is an especially British usage but spelled is entirely correct.

That'll be £200 (or €300) please.
