HI everyone. I figured this forum might be a good place to ask questions and learn a few things. Not sure where to post general questions, but, does anyone have a definitive answer as to why the first race at Newcastle today would be @ 1.27pm? ..why not 1.30pm.? I realise that to some , if not most people here ,this may seem like a strange and perhaps unimportant point. But what if it isn't unimportant?

The meetings at Huntingdon and Southwell this afternoon have been abandoned which means the BHA have increased the intervals between race times at Exeter and Newcastle.

Race Delay: At the request of the BHA Racing Department, the following races [ at Exeter } have been delayed: Race 1 - 1:02 +3 minutes (now 1:05)Race 2 - 1:32 +3 minutes (now 1:35)Race 3 - 2:02 +3 minutes (now 2:05)Race 4 - 2:32 +3 minutes (now 2:35)Race 5 - 3:02 +3 minutes (now 3:05)Race 6 - 3:35 +2 minutes (now 3:37)Race 7 - 4:05 +2 minutes (now 4:07)

It doesn't always work if there are delays for horses running loose or having to be reshod before races. They can push the timings back a few minutes, but cannot run a race before the scheduled off-time.

Thanks for all the replies. My next question is how can I find out how many times a stakes race has been run? for example : Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Classified Stakes (Newcastle 4pm today)

I don't even know what the original title of this stakes race is because they give you the sponsors name instead.

Based on that question, and if you're trying to achieve what (my interpretation of) the question implies, I suspect you're going down a rabbit hole that will get you a pointless/worthless dead end.

To avoid that, it begs the question 'why would you want to know?' Explaining that might help you get better pointers towards what you're trying to achieve. And/or lead someone to explain why it won't do what it is you're looking for.

I have a question why do we have so many nice introductory posts from new members saying they can't wait to get involved and then they suddenly seem to dissapear into the ether.

I do have a theory that YFUSA is sending Walsworth out to kidnap them for fear that one day he may have to share the Talking horses limelight with another. Whilst Walsworth is under strict instructions to take them captive and not harm, unfortunatley skinning defenseless bunnies was never going to be enough to satisfy his thirst for blood. So the new members fate is sealed. Now the skin's he preserves and keeps in his wardrobes for special occasions but the meat, there is far too much of and with his stocks of rabbit stew enough to last until doomsday it's posed a bit of a problem.

However as it goes Walsworth has a lady friend who used to be a professional chef and she's always crying out for some cheap meat as she has a whole host of recipes usually for the slow cooker and makes plenty of meals to send out for her other friends. But what she doesnt realise is that what she thinks is her Chicken in a lemon based sauce usually served with pototaoes, would more aptly be named the "New member suprise".

Some stats on "new members."

73% of them never make it out of "Introduce Yourself" - 4% of them are here to hawk tips and disappear once rumbled, 11% post some naval-contemplating system for a while then vanish once it becomes manifestly obvious no one is remotely interested, and 58% of them are abducted by Agent Walsworth and turned into "Soylent Green."

Of the 27% who do make it out and actually start interacting, 9% are clinically insane, have no actual interest in racing and betting, and find a temporary home in Chit Chat, where they peddle conspiracy theories and discredited scientific hypotheses until even Chaumi, the world's nicest and most tolerant man, is bored into a self-induced coma, and the other 18% post sushi menus and pretend they are Japanese race cards, ask how many legs the average horse has, or are Icy groupies off Twitter/X and are determined to follow Slim to the ends of the Earth, even when he takes out restraining orders against each and every one of them.

With respect- I'm a newcomer here, and having now read a chunk of this forum ( inc the highly entertaining and infamous Chris Beek thread!) I understand how regular member contributions and general culture here predictably (and naturally) follow the pattern of forums in general; to the point that at some stage, the 'operators' (for want of a better word) often start looking for suggestions about how new members can be enticed to join and new topics can be introduced and all the rest of it...

But we're not talking about that here.

Again. with respect, let's rewind what actually happened. And I singled out your comment Chaumi because it stood out as highly perceptive and so my response will directly address the suggestion that you raised.

Because you're talking about what.?.. a 'rabbit hole'?

In case there are certain people, who maybe reading this through gritted teeth, (because they know exactly why there is no smoke without fire) worrying that I'm going to let the cat(s) out of the bag..relax I'm not.

I asked 2 questions. Why the occasional odd times for races eg 1.27pm rather than 1.30pm.? And several members kindly took the time to provide answers in good faith to help and welcome a newcomer to the forum. And I thanked them for that. It's not their fault or concern that the official explanation (for anything in this world today ) is not something I'm going to take at face value and look no further.

The second question is where it gets interesting. On the face of it, it's a simple request that could reasonably be expected to result in at least one person providing an answer. Point me in the right direction etc. I invite the reader to look at the response I got and compare it to the first question/response.

Got it? Judge for yourself how the void where a simple answer should be was filled. And as I type this, still no answer.

Chaumi,
it's hard to judge strangers over the internet and that cuts both ways here., but you raised 'rabbit holes' with the suggestion that I'd be wasting my time. you said that with authority,

You also said "why would you want to know? It could be that you genuinely want to save me time and effort on a dead end. And I get that. Sounds reasonable to most people.

Well guess what? I do want to know Chaumi, that's why I asked the questions. And your response taken together with everybody else's void filling noise just makes me question whether you might actually be :

1- An ex rabbit hole traveller, who didn't find what they were looking for and if you can't find it, nobody can

Or

2- A flat out gatekeeper.

Because let's remind ourselves about the elephant in the room regarding horse racing. Even the general public, let alone the average punter, is acutely aware just how bent and corrupt it is from what they can see freely floating on the surface. So it follows simple logic that it gets more 'interesting' the deeper you dig.

So let's take a case in point today. Another odd time race- 3.47 NEWCASTLE and the winner ELIGIBLE . I'm sorry Chaumi when I look at the numbers involved and how they relate to the winner... the evidence of what is going on there, for me, is undeniable.

So lets not have any talk about 'rabbit holes" and people wasting their time.

or you IAN:

9% are clinically insane, have no actual interest in racing and betting, and find a temporary home in Chit Chat, where they peddle conspiracy theories

(notice how the word 'peddle" was used there. Most people who use this kind of language are what I call 'repeaters'. Words and phrases are weapons to be used against anyone who wont accept the official narrative and it's just easier to repeat these phrases rather than rebut legitimate questioning of authority or engage with alternative views. etc. But it is also the language of authority, those with a vested interest and their gatekeepers)

And remember these were some of the responses to a simple question.

As to the others who turned up here, ignored me and indulged in 'chit chat'... to quote another member here;

" you are all c'''ts until proven otherwise.'

No hard feelings here on my part at all. It's all good.

I'm done here, simply because I'm unable to engage and contribute on the level that this community operates on and the material I could bring to the table would not be appreciated or suitable here. I'm not sharing it anywhere actually.

So what was the point?

Logical place to get some technical answers. Wasn't that simple though was it?

But here's another: There are probably a few out there now/in the future who, to quote another member here ,may have "a scintilla of doubt" about how the world of sport might actually operate compared to how it is presented to us.

To you guys I say.. get a shovel and start digging. You never know, you might just find out we're being lied to. You might find out that not only are there rabbit holes... they are deeper than you think.

I think there's just a chance I've been taken a tad literally here.

But, taking the positives, it's the first time me and the word "official" have been mentioned in the same breath, so I've obviously become part of the establishment without even noticing.

Do I get paid now?

I only ask because no one ever offended me by offering me money.

I'm sure someone will be along in due course to say we're not all horrible here but, like my Dad always said, beware the first to try to befriend you in any new scenario.

Anyway, Chaumi (unlike me) is a really nice bloke - he only narrowly missed out on being elected Pope.

f%*& me he's a funny onion. Hope Walsworth sets his cat free and puts him in the bag.

Our beloved Chaumi 🥰 was trying to help you.

Do bold words mean something ? Usually the bold bits are tips I've just been trawling through tomorrows cards looking for horse called Scintilla of doubt, to no avail, perhaps it's running in Sha tin.

We bid you farewell Sarzeni.

I’m not sure that I understand much of senzeni’s response; but nor did I understand much of chaumi’s response to senzeni’s very straightforward question about original names of races.

On a more general note, if the responses to senzeni’s second question are anything to go by, it’s easy to understand why new posters disappear into the ether after a few posts.

This forum has a problem, and does not appear that welcoming to others. It has become cliquey and is full of in-jokes. The dialogue/ banter reads very similar to stuff you’d read in a public school house publication or - and I have experience of this - a trade union splinter group’s daily write up of conference.

Just re-read your responses to senzeni’s second post. You’re just having an arse about between yourselves. Is that how we welcome someone onboard? It shouldn’t be. Do you blame him for not wanting to come back?

This forum has a problem
You weren't saying that after I gave you that tricast, Len.

For avoidance of doubt - I'm joking - and for anyone a bit slow on the uptake, no it doesn't give me licence to do as I please.

But people are people and they kid around - posting on this forum is a bit of fun, it's not a job, and if I wanted to be one of life's meeters and greeters I'd probably have a red coat in my wardrobe (I haven't - it's full of rabbit stew Walsworth has stored there).

Plenty of people join this forum and just pitch right in - Archipenko and WanderingSkyLight to name but two recent examples.

This place is alright - it's no more cliquey than when I first joined (or rejoined or whatever).

As for the arse about, Slims will win thread went down the path of cooking faggots, another recent thread he started went the same way so that's not a thing that is aimed purely at new members. It's just a few of us here are easy going like a laugh and go where banter takes us.

As for signing up and asking questions the first question was answered. The second question was in my view a shit and vague question. Chaumi basically was saying that if he asked the question in a different manner we might have been able to give him a better answer to get to what he was aiming at which wasn't apparently obvious.

May i remind you that any new members who sign up and need a bit of help here and there most of the regulars will provide. However if anyone feels like firing random half cloaked questions i'd remind you that we are members of a forum and that google and whatever Chat GPT is were obviously invented for a reason.

Obviously by his strange response he already came with a loaded gun to ruffle some other members feathers so he can take his cat in his bag and jog on.

That was actually an interesting post, Senzeni.

Normally, I would take all the points you made and either clarify original intent (which I assure you was entirely honorable and intended to assist you based on my interpretation of the reasoning behind your question), or question why you said some of the things you did so I understand them better.

But that would all take time. Which I'm happy to give. But only if you would read it and engage further. And you said 'I'm done'. So, I'm not sure it's worth spending that time.

If you are still engaged, lmk and I'll cover it all. Or PM me if you prefer it privately, and we can talk it through.

I realise now that my interpretation of your question was probably flawed.

Thank you for this, Len.

I am feeling the same. Grown men behaving like this - really?

It is not the first time and you appear like a pack of hyenas circling around a new person or a weaker member of the forum.

Seriously behave like adults.

But I can say that now because you haven’t given me a tricast since. Joke, btw.

And plenty of people don’t hang around after their introduction.

I must admit that senzeni may have come with an agenda - as Danny says - but that was unknown at the point of his second question.

I stand by my original post. And this forum actually does need irritable and annoying gits like me to point out a few harsh truths.

Of course I still love the place. You are hugely knowledgeable and engaging people, on the whole.
