The rumours and posts on this forum were indeed correct but who would have thought 5lb claimer Jonathan Burke, son of Liam Burke of p2p fame would get the job ? (apart possibly from Irish Stamp who knows all in thw p2p field !)
To give an 18 year old with just 30 winners to his name such a high profile position is praise indeed for his skills but it places some weight and responsibility on his young shoulders.
Joe Tizzard had a similar job with Paul Nicholls but apart from that such a scenario is rare.
I do wish him all the very best but have to ask is there a dearth of talented jockeys in their mid 20s ?

I had the pleasure of meeting (J J) Jonathan and his Father Liam in June at Newmarket,he is a very grounded young man. His first winner as a professional was Golden Kite for Adrian Maguire in the Connacht National at Roscommon.
Best wishes to him its a great opportunity

Lynch's leg still giving him serious bother since he smashed it. Walks with a bad limp...goes walking in the sea most nights (even in winter) to help ease the pain...a few months ago someone saw him walking in in the pitch dark and called the coastguard....he had helicopters and ribs all around him within minutes... very quiet down to earth lad but I concur, the injury is holding him back.

OTB posted this back in Dec, might have something to do with it.
