Hi, I’m Dave 😊

I’ve loved horse racing since the late 80s and have always been fascinated by both National Hunt and Flat racing. For me, it’s never just been about picking winners it’s about studying the form, digging into the details, and trying to solve the puzzle that horse racing presents.

Over time, with limited hours in the day (and wanting to be a bit smarter with my punting!), I decided to narrow my focus to All-Weather racing. It was still fairly new back then and often misunderstood, which really appealed to me. By specialising in this smaller niche, I found I could build a real edge and that’s when the consistent profits started to come.

My approach has always been evidence-based rather than hype or opinions. I stick to the fundamentals: old-fashioned form study, plenty of race replays, speed figures, RaceIQ metrics, and sectional data. It’s all about letting the numbers and the races tell the story.

Along the way, I’ve had a few highlights. I finished 8th in the Flat Ten to Follow competition in the early 2000s, which earned me just under £5,000. I also ran a daily blog for a couple of years focused mainly on All-Weather racing, finishing over 300 points in profit. A few big forecast wins certainly helped boost those totals! I eventually stepped away from the blog due to time pressures (and the occasional online troll — part of the territory, I guess).

Like everyone who bets, I’ve had both winning streaks and tough runs — that’s racing. But everything I’ve ever shared has been my own selections, backed by my own analysis, and my own money on the line.

Most recently, I ticked off a real bucket-list goal: writing and publishing a book focused on UK All-Weather sprint racing. It’s something I’m incredibly proud of and a great way to share what I’ve learned over the years.

Thanks for reading, and here’s to solving a few more racing puzzles together!

Dave

Welcome DW! Hope you enjoy yourself on here and get stuck in.

We have an excellent Ten to Follow on here btw (well we have a NH one - the Flat one never got started for some reason). But the one running at the moment is in memory of Col who set up this forum and also a great guy called Roger (aka Diamond Geezer on here) who used to run all the competitions. So please get involved next season.

We also have a fair few competitions for big meetings - Cheltenham, Aintree, Royal Ascot, Goodwood so keep an eye out for those too.

Sounds excellent to me

Welcome on board looking forward to reading your thoughts . A bit of a strange time to enter forums having been around so long. Have you been on other forums previously that we'd recognise you from ?

And what was the name of your blog as i might have come across it in the past.

Yes I’m on another forum The UK Betting Forum since 2014.

I have had two blogs. The first I was paying too much for and switched over to a free site. My blog was awhorseracing.jimdofree.com/blog/NR

I was surprised it’s still there and I’ve just lifted this from it. The running P&L was actually 288.95
That was up until December 2020. I believe it went just over 300 points when I pulled the plug.

It was totally free, but all to time consuming. I was heavily stressed at work with far too many plates spinning and I was on my third chest infection in the matter of months. Something had to give and initially it was my health and then some online abuse made me decide it just wasn’t worth it.

Monthly Summary of Results for 2019/2020

The P/L is based on a level 1pt stake

Running P/L : 288.95 points between May 2019 and December 2020.

Running P/L : 128.27 points between Jan 2020 and December 2020.

I’m now retired, but somehow still quite busy mainly through looking after the grandkids all under 4 and being a carer for sick elderly parents. The horse racing is an escape and something I enjoy.

As for the blog. I wish it was still going and maybe something I do in the future. If I do it then I will have to limit the time and effort to keep it enjoyable and not let it become more like a chore.

I do like writing hence why I recently wrote an Amazon book on UK All Weather racing with a focus on sprint racing. It was a bucket list task that I can tick off.

Wolverhampton 19:00

There is an interesting runner in the 19:00 at Wolverhampton called WORD OF MOUTH she’s a lightly raced 4 year old filly out of Wooten Bassett so longer distance races should suit the pedigree. She’s trained by James Ferguson and last ran 11 days ago at Wolves in a class 5 race over 1M4F. She finished 3rd in a fairly fast run race won by Cardinal Point and although she was well beaten 3rd she finished her race off well with FSP% of 103.45.

Today’s race is 1M5F 219 yards. I believe the extra distance will suit her as she took the step up in distance well last time out and she’s race fit.

As previously mentioned, she’s trained by James Ferguson and ridden by Danny Muscott. That trainer and Jockey combination is interesting. They are 3/14 (21%) at the course in the past 2 years. The trainer generally does well at Wolves with 16% strike in the past 2 years.

I know it’s a bit of a punt but she’s a big price @18/1. I’ve backed her each way as I believe she will have come on for her last run and the extra distance should suit.

I’m also interested in Maywedance in the same race at 25/1. She ran really well at Kempton on the 3/11/25 winning and went into my tracker. This is a step up in class but it’s not out of the question. Again only small EWs but at interesting prices. She’s now owned by will Willy Twiston-Davis and is no doubt in the future she’s sure to be going over hurdles.

If I post any selections I can guarantee to you I have had a bet on them.

Spanish Inquisition alert!

Aye, I forgot you banned me from this section. I'll show no interest from here on in. I actually thought our paths may have crossed in cyberspace before but never mind.

I see you've been posting on X, Dave.

There's a blog section here where you can create your own, if you so desire. You won't get any trolls here. Your 'AW ones to follow' list would be well-received, I think.

For interest...I strongly fancied Pallas Lord (as I think you did), but thought Dream Illusion might possibly be a danger at the prices. Ruled it out at the last second. Pallas fought very hard and wasn't far off clawing it back after looking beat. Interestingly...there's another poster here who was hot on the 3rd - a 33,18,10 tricast/trifecta. If only!!
