New Years Honours List

Rugby Union and Cricket have always been the team sports of the ruling classes. You only have to look at the ludicrous amount of coverage county cricket gets in the Telegraph to realise that.

Not a single teeth yellower was given an award.

Bastards.

There is nothing wrong with cricket getting lots of coverage, if it does. If Manchester United played 4 days in a row, they would get two pages devoted to them each time. Most county cricket teams get half a column to a column per day per match. Hardly over the top.

Personally I think that the whole beating of Australia has been totally overdone.
I am a lover of cricket too... but I think CAT has a reasonable complaint re. His thread...

I was only further highlighting it with my whimsical !! Comments don't take them as being sacrosanct!!! but it was to highlight what I thought was a grave misdemeanour, its meant to be read as a huge discrepancy(call it favouritism if you like?) in these honours…. as I highlighted in my opening thread... that they are completely farcical !! no more.. .

That account of the young trooper under desperate, life-threatening circumstances makes for some horrifying reading. What a terrific youngster, he certainly deserved the award and, frankly, a footballer's week's pay. Perhaps the FA would rule that the next time a football pig broke the jaw or nose of one of the opposition, their pittance of £100,000 a week might be stopped, and awarded to a REAL hero?

I've just found out that a former PA of mine was awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours. She is a Lt Cmdr in the Royal Navy Voluntary Reserve. With my congratulations I offered to fight any man who mentioned sleeping with the admiral.
