I am going to smile more (except at children!!)
Good stuff.

Not sure but i want to meet you all and stay sober in the process if at all possible <_<

I am going to have a good go at losing 3 stone. The last time I stood on the scales I was 15st 10lbs-a lot of people might think that its impossible but I will give it a shot.I put on 30lbs due to a number of circumstances in 2004.

Just under 6 foot.Believe it or not the start of my rapid weight gain was on the 26/12/03 which is Boxing/Stephens Day depending on your perspective.Anyway the wife was with her family 80 miles away so I had no car and I got on my pushbike to get the racing post. The first couple of shops I went to were closed-eventually I got the paper but it had started to rain heavily. On a downhill stretch on the way I fell off the bike backwards.I landed on my feet for about 0.01 of a second and then went down like a ton of bricks.I thought my leg was broken and was terrified of getting up.The rain had got worse and because of the day that was in it nobody passed by-the one thing I did in the 20minutes I was on the ground was reach out to stop the RP getting blown away.Eventually I bit the bullet got up and rolled the bike home very slowly. When I got home I took some anti-inflamatories and put 2 cold bottles of Heineken against my ankle to try reduce the swelling. There was absolutely no way I was going to hosptal and risk missing a days racing of that calibre.Even today the troubled ankle is about 4/5 times as big as the others. Some people have said to me that there is either a hairline fracture or the injury didn't heal correctly.Anyway I hobbled around for ten weeks and my regular routines got lost along the way-that was the start of my weight gain.

That is nasty, Luke. I hate injuries like that. My brother and I are always messing around pretending to batter each other with the knowledge that we will never hit each other. September 2003 we were pratting around and I aimed a msssive roundhouse punch at him that was missing by around 2 feet. The muppet decided to block it with his elbow and my right thumb has never been the same since!! I didn 't go to the hoispital as it was our birthday so wanted to get pissed instead!! I really regret that as I am sure it has healed badly.

I wouldn't worry too much about the weight, I am 6 feet 1 and 15 stone 10 and people say I look ok. They may be lying though....

Happily enough, my weight is shifting at a rate of knots anyway at the moment, which is very satisfying!

I don't do resolutions anyway....they're always broken within 3 days or so....

I love Luke's priorities in the face of personal catastrophe: battered and smashed on the ground, he ensures his RP doesn't blow away; he nurses the ankle with two bottles of Heineken (no old pack of frozen peas for our lad); he won't go to the hospital because he'll miss some prime racing! Good on you, Luke - I think you fully qualify as a Group 1 racing nutter! :D

I absolutely MUST dump at least 3st this year. I think the penny dropped about how I was a hot contender for the Human Airship Contest 2004 when I didn't recognize myself in an old photo! :shy: The overweight is beginning to cause the knees to creak a bit, so it's a hearty walking regime and about 30 tons less chocolate and cake intake for me! :( A dreadful prospect, but it has to be done. My car's springs will thank me.

Andddd... am going to de-junk constantly, not hold onto old books which I haven't read in 30 years or have never bothered to read, get rid of clothes I don't like any more, and so on. And be much, much kinder to everyone, everywhere.

Okay, maybe not the last bit. That's stretching resolve a bit too far... :teeth:

C'mon, LordH.......you'll have them all topping themselves now as they aren't as svelte as you obviously are!

Some people just carry it better, Paul :P

I should talk. I have given up hope of making the Festival Bumper. I was holding steady at between 11-10 and 12-0 for a wee while there but am tipping the scales at 12-4 this week. If I can get back down to 11-10 in time for the Leopardstown Feb meeting, I'll give them all a run for their money.

Krizon -I remember it like it was yesterday -on the ground with a possible broken leg,the rain was starting to lash and all I was interested in was saving the RP.

"You are not 6 feet tall, Brian!!!!! "
My height is actually 1.82245 metres, according to the records from my annual medical. This converts, I believe, to 5.97917 feet. I apologise for the exaggeration of 0.02083 feet, which is about a quarter of an inch.

I'll reword my original posting:

"I like this thread - it makes me feel really thin (5 feet 11¾ inches tall, 13st 12lb)"

Blimey, you seemed smaller when I met you, Brian. Apologies for the slight on your height.

How on Earth do you get your height mesured to a thousandth of a centimetre? Laser?
