I think this card deserves it's own thread. It looks like the best days racing of the year at Headquarters with a couple of decent 2yo events, Beauty Parlour taking on Elusive Kate in an excellent looking renewal of the Sun Chariot and of course the big cavalry charge itself.

I'm on Bronze Angel at big prices for the Cambridgeshire. I had a mega rant on here when he didn't get in the Golden Mile because of the way 3yos are conspired against in big handicaps and I took 33s when odds were released for the race before pricewise somewhat ruined the price by selecting him a couple of weeks back. The way he finished in the Britannia from a bad draw having tracked to the far side suggests he's way ahead of the handicapper.

There's still a doubt about him him getting in.

True. But I'm a lot more hopeful than I was as only two or three need to come out. Even so he'll be in the compensation race on Friday and of course he'll be winning the Lincoln next March.

Very little rain here in over the past two days and a very strong drying breeze all day yesterday. The ground must be firming up at the moment.

I heard the racing correspondent on Talksport declare that Newmarket must be in some kind of bubble because it had missed all of the rain yesterday. I don't know where he spent the night, but it wasn't here. We had a deluge during the night and there were puddles everywhere when I drove to work this morning.

And it has just begun raining again.

I'm guessing it will be good ground for the annual cavalry charge on Saturday.

What do you think the ground will be like tomorrow Scaramanga?

Roz looks a nice price at 10's for the Fillies mile if it's quick enough.

It's difficult to assess Aragorn, the Rowley drains so very quickly. It has stopped raining now but the sky is still leaden. It wouldn't surprise me if it rained again during the night. I would think it will be good ground at best.

I'll post again in the morning to let you know how wet it has been.

We don't appear to have had any more rain overnight after all and the skies are clear at the moment. I would think the ground will be much the same as yesterday, perhaps even a little faster.

Chil The Kite looks thrown in to me.

I'm pretty sure I backed Chil The Kite ante-post for the 1976 Cambridgeshire after he'd won that valuable 10f handicap at Newbury in mid-September. He didn't run and I did my money. A valuable lesson.

He's been transferred from Bruce Hobbs to Hughie Morrison since, of course.

A good shout there Aragorn, but I think you may well have been beaten by a future classic winner. Certify's performance was sublime!

I left it alone in the end but she has run well nonetheless against a very good opponent.

And on what I would imagine was ground on the softer side of good.

No rain now since about 2.00pm. I'll post in the morning to let you know if it has rained overnight.

sn't Siyouma another case of overpriced French runner? Easy to forgive her run LTO and I can't see her out of the frame myself. Is a lot closer to these on lateral form lines and 9/1 looks very big.

I like a lot in the Cambridgeshire at big prices, getting the fifth place the key and I've chanced my arm on these...
Dragonera at 100/1 - Think she'll be suited by the likely pace and whilst she doesn't look well handicapped at all, she has a bit of class about her and is still relatively lightly raced.
King's Warrior at 16/1 - Thought this would be nearly favourite. Bolted up at York and posted some group class times. Very promising apprentice onboard.
Navajo Chief at 50/1 - Consistent handicapper who always runs his heart out, again, times are very good.
Andereigo at 25/1 - Progressive handicapper for his very talented trainer. Ran a great race behind Quick Wit LTO. If he was trained by Cumani, he'd be 12s.
Levitate at 66/1 - Slow gallop went against him LTO and form of run before at York (behind Andereigo) worked out well. Far too big.
Bancnuanaheireann at 50/1 - Running well since moving from Ireland without winning. Shade unlucky at Donny and think extra 1f and stiff finish may see him run a big race.

In the fillies nursery, I'm very sweet on Entwined at 20s. Time of Sandown run was very good and I think a mark of 72 in a bigger field where she will get a stronger pace (won at Bath despite slow pace and being held up) will see her run well.

Definitely with you on the last one you mention being a silly price. Really unlucky at Goodwood earlier in the year.

I'm liking Winning Express a lot in the Cheveley. Won the listed easier than her maiden and is clearly impoving and doesn't need a lot more to beat these

Cecil horses are firing at the moment and I think the stiffish 8f at Newmarket will suit Al Waab in the Royal Lodge. Between him and Steeler I reckon and the Cecil horse looks value.
