Newmarket

top handicap now
should provide plenty of winners

Hajras temptative choice
Pilgrim Rest interesting too

looked a steady early..Greek war pulled very hard early on then had to finish against horses with full tanks

i backed Hajjras ..but it doesn't pay to run your horses on merit as MJ has with this one..this horse has gone up a stone since last win of half length..some trainers would have had 5 wins for that lift in the weights..its no wonder trainers play the system is it?

I walked the course before work this morning and determined that the going was good to soft/soft in places. As I neared the end I met an official poking his stick in and asked him if I was correct in my estimation. He said it was definitely good to soft. After that we had a sunny dry day. I think the ground was a bit better than soft.

It is currently raining again and the met office forecast is for heavy rain tomorrow so I'd expect slower ground still.

Hello Glory could go close to winning in the first tomorrow (currently 16/1). She was third in the Lowther last year behind horses in the current 110 range. The second horse that day, Fire Lily, is just a 16/1 chance for July Cup glory on Saturday and is a very solid group performer. The fourth that day was Caledonia Lady, who is a very smart filly with a good future. So that form looks half decent.

If we're looking at previous form as a precursor to finding the winner, and looking at ratings etc which people may or may not want to do, then Hello Glory would have to figure on a shortlist. The favourite is the one to beat and has the recent form but too short for me and 88 leaves nothing to the imagination in terms of wondering whether she's well-in. She's not well-in as far I can see, and this might explain why she got beat in a similiar event on soft last time out, so Marble thinks the evil handicapper might have Varians filly already after just three runs lol.:)

Dropped a few pounds and back on good ground and she should be winning, but not tomorrow.

So for what it's worth Marble thinks Hello Glory is the 'Value' bet.:)

Piri Wango tomorrow? I know some boys on here were keen at Ascot...

I was keen on him at Ascot...looked a little one paced there but did stay on. He's a big horse and I'm wondering will the July course suit him...maybe ground is gone s little soft too.

It has been raining heavily here throughout the entire night. It didn't stop until 4.30am this morning. The going WILL be considerably softer for today's racing than it was yesterday.

Should suit Sholaan then, who sluiced up on the soft ground at York, but was outsped on significantly faster ground at Wiindsor.
7/1 is generous.

Stayed on? I haven't seen the race but RP comments suggest he weakened, making me think the drop back will suit?

Painful trying to bet off stats. Can't see any racing!!

Ger Lyons on Twitter:

"Rained all night here in HQ & won't have helped our cause with Piri. Tread carefully with him as we don't expect him to like the ground"

Would be enough to put me off. In a competitive handicap, there's surely going to be others that will relish the going. Too bad my money's already down.

I've done Mr Red Clubs in the next, last run gives it a real chance I think.

*Cue horse being held up, boxed in and snatched up, beaten a sh hd lol.
