No more woof woofs in New Zealand

Retired racing greyhounds make fantastic pets. But if racing gets banned everywhere no one is going to go out of their way to have pure bred greyhounds as pets especially as I would assume that they’re as manic and thieving as their smaller relatives but much much bigger. It will be the end of the breed.

Once upon a time in London I worked with a guy whose father was one of the leading greyhound breeders in New Zealand.
NZ seems to be woke central -how long until they get rid of horse racing.

I’ve often got chatting to people on holiday here from Australia and New Zealand and have been surprised to find how popular ex racers are as pets in both countries ( we usually get chatting when they ask if they can say hello to my whippet). And yet I’ve just read on Facebook that New Zealand puts down thousands of unwanted dogs of other breeds each year. I think that article said that only @ 11 greyhounds actually died on the track there last year. It’s what they’re bred to do; run or hunt. When my whippet isn’t sleeping (99% of the time) her joy when running is unbounded.
