Northumberland Plate

Reviewing the meeting again, Mazzini certainly wasn't ridden to obtain best finishing position in the opening handicap and I'm surprised Queally wasn't questioned by the stewards. Wouldn't have won but was staying on late to be involved in the places and then seemed to be eased right out of them in the last 100 yards. Bookies were paying 4 and 5 places and it looks to my eye that he's 'thrown' away a certain top four to drop to 6th.

I wasn't invested though and regardless, while he's becoming increasingly disappointing he can definitely win one of these from a mark of 90 and it's hard to see him going up for that on Wednesday. In fact, a couple of pound drop and I'll be piling in next time. At which point he'll no doubt disappoint yet again.
