Notes From The Country

Or ... remember those spoof ads several years back, when the Welsh were busy barbecueing the despised incomers' holiday homes? "Come home to a real home fire" with a nice little cottage well ablaze? I take it it's a less-popular outdoor sport these days?

Hope so. They've just sold us £40 worth of coal! I've not had a real fire since the early days of 'spitting' smokeless fuel. For the younger reader, small pieces were spat out of the fire at high speed. Rather like bullets, you didn't hear the one that hit you. I'm assured that things have changed.

Had not seen this thread until I read Dim's and it was commented on.
Having met Keith and his new partner for a drink before racing at Aintree earlier this year, I can tell you they make a lovely couple. The rural setting looks lovely Archie, but I'm not sure I wouldn't be breaking out in a coldl sweat having to wait till 6pm for a drink some days :P

Hartpury seems to be the in place then for equine science. My own daughter Natalie starts there next month on the same course, ( although I suspect she may struggle as she enjoys her social life a bit too much ).

My friend's daughter just got back from Hartpury yesterday from doing a couple of resits.... they do like to party on there..!!

Thanks for those kind words Dave. Don't worry, I've sorted out the pub problem!

Best of luck to Natalie at Hartpury. It gives you a great excuse for going to Cheltenham.
