There is a rumpus over this here. A gentleman (Mr.Campbell) called a Garda station in Cavan. The response from the officer was filmed and recorded. There is a national debate underway as to whether the caller* was treated with the respect he deserved. You decide.

* Obviously a few tuna sandwiches short of a full picnic.

...... but oh, so funny.
Did you really think so?

Usually when people put up these links I find them amusing to varying degrees and I end up calling the rest of the family to the PC to see it. Not this time. At the beginning the sound and camera work made me wonder if I had a fault but once the conversation got going I got more and more disappointed at the guarda. I didn't crack a smile for a fraction of a second.

I know what it's like to be messed around on the phone by people who don't give a f*ck about how they deal with customers, BT being the worst by some way, and I thought Brendan did extremely well not to end up losing his cool. I felt for the guy and I do hope they make an example of this officer.

Yes, in a cartoon sense of humour kind of way. "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "NO."

Thoroughly unprofessional though, even if Brendan Campbell was totally anal.

Fair point. If it had been a comedy sketch, I could have lightened up a bit, I suppose.

A sad microcosm of the state of mental health care in Ireland.

And Brendan doesn't sound like he's all there either.
