Onward Christian Soldiers

There was a character in Pulp Fiction who treated his victims to a few verses from the bible before shooting them. After seeing this story that character now seems a lot more mainstream than he did at the time.

The US navy wanted to name a new submarine Corpus Christi in the 1980s. They said they were naming it after the town of that name in Texas but they backed down in the face of opposition from church leaders and others who regarded it as blasphemous.

So, they're not Christian enough to believe in "mine is the vengeance, saith the Lord", I take it? I guess "whosoever offend thee, turn the other cheek" wouldn't be appropriate, either? No, thought not. Is there anything more rank than the stink of sanctimonious hypocrisy?
