Patrick Veitch

For a man who likes to stay very private, I doubt there'd be much revealed in it I'm sure. Oh, but I'm sure it'll say he already drove a Ferrari by the time he was about 25.

im upto chapter 12, and its quite detailed of winners & losers so far, but very little as to how he comes to select his horses. feels like im reading a detailed diary, keen to get back to it but not 100% happy with it. he says in it he wont reveal anythng ie horses owned or trainers used, past 2006, as it may interfere with plans he has for this season & beyond.

I read the article about him in the Racing Post the other day and the old axim still holds true; if you can make money by doing it, why write about it?

in 1998 he was the victim of demanding monies with menaces, and had to move home & change his life etc. he made a promise to himself that he would tell his story if it ever became safe to do so. 10 years on he has now told his story.

There is no real point bringing out a book if he's not going to reveal much, i am 50/50 on buying this seems like another Nevision book.

I got it the other day. It`s ok, but not nearly as good a read as the Alan Potts or even the Nevison books. But then again it doesn`t pretend to be a how to? book about punting.

Like it or not, Veitchy is a very successful man who rakes the money in; whether he writes about it or not. I've not read the book but I'd also not expect to see any massive secrets exposed, he keeps himself very much to himself, does Patrick.

If you want to buy a Veitch, then buy a Veitch. And if you don't want a Veitch...

I know, I deserve what's coming. The only kindness I request before dispatch is a blindfold.
