Photo editing

I'm a member of a FB site for the village where I grew up. There's a guy on there who takes photos that people upload and he enhances them brilliantly.

I'd like to be able to do likewise with old photos I have on file or the originals.

It's been suggested to me that there is free software that can do this using AI where necessary.

Does anyone know anything about this and how to access it?

I'm keen to get old family photos off to the new-found relatives in Ireland.
