Power price hikes

You have to do the maths though. Look at the margin. How much less do you think the bills would be if the profit was zero? Not much at all and probably not at all given that shareholder pressure demands that overheads are minimised. Overheads run quickly out of control without this as we saw in the 70s

Simmo. Well you simply have to vote in the party that will take the right action. Eds had an idea. A crap one of course which is riddled with holes but he's made the running whereas Cameron's mob has been caught flat footed. The Tories are possibly right to blame the previous administration for allowing too much consolidation but they have not come up with anything to counter

I think it cold be quite a vote loser. There must be thousands in ballydoyles situation and I can't help but feel for them.

Thats simply wrong when you are talking about the main providers. Weve been through this

Did I hear right?

Did I hear a spokesman for one of the small energy companies say on the BBC this morning that wholesale prices are lower now than in 2011?

F**k me even John Major is on our side.

In spirit, it sounds like it but in reality a windfall tax would just get passed on to consumers and prices would go up again. Effectively we, the consumer, would pay the tax. It wouldn't affect the companies at all.
