Thirty horses have been left in the French Derby on Sunday.

Ektihaam, Gregorian, Jungle Beat, Coupe de Ville, Main Sequence and Most Improved are the British trained horses remaining, while Aidan O'Brien has left Astrology, Imperial Monarch, Triumphant and Vault in it.

Looks likely that either or both of Astrology or Imperial Monarch won't be at Epsom.

Looks a case of just how far for Ektihaam in this and may worth be backing him now in the event of Bonfire winning Epsom Derby.

No grounds for Imperial Monarch being less than 10/1 for this. I'm not seeing whatever it is the rest of you are!

No grounds for Imperial Monarch being less than 10/1 for this. I'm not seeing whatever it is the rest of you are!

His win an Sandown merits closer inspection - buckets of scope - will have a closer look at the field now it's whittled down a bit.

IM won't know what hit him when they go into acceleration mode 2 furlongs out. There are at least two or three horses here who have a serious burst not least of which is the Fabre trained St. Baudolino. His last win was anything but ordinary. French Fifteen would be another who will like the stretchout to 10.5 furlongs. Taking into account O'Brien's record in this race which he has never won is poor to say the least, the writing is on the wall. He wants Camelot to win at Epsom so he is removing any potential obstacles from his side.

5/1 is seriously tempting about French Fifteen. Wonder if he'll be any bigger on the PMU.

I do worry about the size of field and bad luck in running. The best horse doesn't always win this race.

I couldn't back any horse in this race today. They are many horses who seem to have very similar form. There will be hard luck stories for sure. Drawn will play a part as well. Maybe IM lay bet could be interesting if he goes too short in the betting.

I have doubts FF will stay the trip.

Mandistana and Topeka are interesting in other races though

I've backed Ektihaam in the belief that the Dante was the strongest trial outside the 2000 Guineas and I'm hoping his worrying drift at Betfair is down to punters losing faith after Bonfire's poor run yesterday.

So Fast could go well. A lot of strong candidates at the top of the market and they can't all win. I'd want 20/1 to pick the winner of this and So Fast will give me a run for my money I hope.

French Fifteen and Imperial Monarch under priced for this. There seems to be a vibe that the latter would have been Ballydoyle's number 1 for Epsom if they didn't have Camelot - the inference being that he's better than the animals they normally send to Chantilly. The stables number 1 last year at Epsom was Recital.
