Prix du Jockey Club

Stewards Enquiry. If I don't get some sort of return on Kesempour I might go off the rails. The cnut who won was behind him in the Greffulhe.

Incredible scenes on Betfair with race caller naming the wrong horse on telly.

Geny says Nutello is out. It seems they got it wrong

I wish I could hibernate until November.

:) Big field, rough race, probably the wrong result, but that's the way it goes. Exactly why they were holding up Imperial Monarch who is a stamina horse in a race like this is beyond me. It seems Joseph has one way of riding at the moment. It won't work for all horses though.

A handful of them had hard luck stories and should be winning before long.

Kezampour's good draw was a vital component in me backing him. He avoided any trouble but still wasn't good enough.

Hard luck with Kesampour. An unbeaten Group 2 winner with a good draw was a tempting bet in this. He only just missed out a place... not much consolation for you but he's obviously not a bad colt.;)

He's clearly not good enough though - as Euronymous says, he had the best run of anything in the race but could't make it count. Looks short of top class on evidence to date.

Watching South African racing I observe how the inside rail around the entrance to the straight is continued to guide the leaders to the middle of the course, allowing extra space for those coming from behind as the field fans out. It is rarely seen here in GB or Eire. It would eliminate the type of scrimmaging seen in the French Derby and in some high profile races here. Memories of Irish Champion Stakes 2003 come to mind, even though there were just 7 runners. The running rail for Eclipse stks 1997 caused problems for different reasons with just 5 runners.
It may reduce jockeyship but with large fields may be an idea.
Any thoughts?

It's seen all the time here. Maybe not to the extent of taking the field out into the middle of the track, but certainly several horse-widths off the rail.

No argument from me about this. He wasn't one of those that was inconvenienced. Others were though.
