Punchestown

I'm not at all sure the Durkan form is worth paying any attention to.

I don't have any sectionals but the overall time seems to be slow which suggests to me that it ended up little more than a 2-mile race so the likes of GDC or Fastorslow would not have been able to show themselves in their best light.

The runner-up is only a 155 horse.

Put a line through the race.
I sincerely hope your analysis is wrong DO.
No criticism of you but...if memory recalls you ( or someone here) had a similar analysis of Thistlecrack's King George and were on the ball to be fair.
We must remember the sudden change in ground over a few days though the chase course seemed not as bad as the hurdles course.
The older horses will surely improve but Spillane's Tower has been ( relatively) given time; methinks that is why JP sent him to Mangan's , a traditional trainer rarely found nowadays ( Henry de B the exception in Ireland)
This race is similar to the Florida Pearl/Native Upmanship/ Sackville/ Rince Ri encounter of 2001; the first two mentioned amazingly were the two outsiders , FP went on to win King George VI Chase his next start.
The expectations will shorten the winter and Constitution Hill will not be as badly missed if he fails to sort himself out.

I think you are being controversial for the sake of being controversial. That race brought a lot of joy to people yesterday -not least the RTE panel who were buzzing.
The First 4 home were Grade 1 winners in the last 8 months and none of them show any obvious signs of being in decline. What price would you make it that between them the First 4 win the two Leopardstown Grade 1's,Cheltenham and Punchestown Gold Cups.
The betfair chase was a slog won by a horse who won't even run at Cheltenham and this weekends big race at Newbury is a shadow of the race it was.
