Sorry EC1, I should have said "four horses in this century"

I don't really know how many achieved such a rating before that.

Frankel beat Nathaniel first time up. Not too shabby.

I've a vague memory that St Nicholas Abbey got a high rating but that's just a shot in the dark.

those last two maidens wouldn't have rated that highly wouldn't have thought at the time though..as the beaten horses were just..other maidens.

it has to be something that wins very easily firstly would imagine..and probably backed up by a good time

sorry LBM..old memory went on overdrive there

Gorytus..now there was a good un..if i remember rightly he won that really well priced York maiden at ebor meeting by 7 lengths..he was made favourite for the next 10 editions of teh guineas on the back of it:)..don't think it won again..or maybe didn't run again

I read Golden Fleece was rated 113 on that race, his only appearance that year. Wikipedia has got him on 99, which seems wrong to me.

Gorytus ran again, but he was never the same after the Champagne.

Frankel was rated 102+ for that maiden.

The top four were all trained in Ireland and one of them was beaten first time out. (SNA was not one of them)

Hehehe, I knew this would be controversial !!

Good choices simmo, but none of them was rated 110 or higher.

Remember EC, they were all trained in Ireland.

Good man Suny, Galileo is one of them with a rating of 112+
That one was the easiest of the lot!

Yeats or was he last century
George Washington was an impressive 2yo
There was another O'Brien horse with an American reference to it's name
I just wonder if there's a filly that could have gatecrashed the party, would be surprised, but who knows?

What was the name of the 2yo that won the Nunthorpe?

Golden Fleece beat Assert in a maiden -that must have been some race.

Remember it well. Oldbawn Maiden Leopardstown Sept 1981.
Duke Of Dollis finished third and a college mate of mine followed him over a cliff as an older horse racing in North Of England.
He only missed him twice (when of course he won ) at 20/1 and 25/1 !

Some telephaty going on there...

Henry is not one of them, but 2 out of the 3 remaining were trained at Ballydoyle. The other one was trained by Weld, but it is neither Grey Swallow nor Free Eagle.
To be honest I would be very surprised if someone picks them.
