Pretty shoddy pictures as I was too busy soaking up the atmosphere, eating, drinking or gambling to bother with the camera but here goes:

Ohi Racecourse in Tokyo which stages twilight meetings, very Kemptonesque with it's floodlights and right-handed track with an inner and outer track.

This good looking sort was 15/1 on the Tote in a field full of absolute sheepdogs, he duly obliged!

Another one of Ohi

Apologies they're not the best, but if anyone wants to see the rest of my Japan photos, they're available here:

Excellent country for racing with cheap entry, a fairly easy to use Tote system and lots of reasonably priced food and drink on offer. Definitely looking to return (hopefully in 2012 for the cherry blossom season) so will try and get better photos then!

Super stuff, Gamla - they're very good photos. I love the blue floodlit trees in your last picture up here - why can't we make our courses pretty like that? Also, I didn't realise that you are a schoolboy - all of 16, by the look of you! Going to look on the link now - very interesting indeed, and I can't but think cherry blossom time will be fabulous. You must bring us back some lovely pix of that, too, please!

Looked at your link: stunning photos, Gamla. Fantastic colours, wonderful sights - what a glorious journey you all enjoyed. I love your friend feeding the deer a biscuit, and the monkeys in the hot baths. (Now those would be a good idea right now, never mind the ice rinks!)

Haha I wish I was still 16, it's clearly my youthful glow knocking the best part of nearly 9 years off me!

Thanks for putting those up, very interesting. The scale of the stands at Tokyo racecourse makes Longchamp look like Listowel.

The geisha in the green kimono looks like the person I used to sit beside in school. The confusing thing is, though, I went to an all boys school.

brilliant. thanks for sharing. as grey said, makes all we know over here look quite small indeed. in fact, tooooo many people for me to be honest ...
