Guess there is something in the fact that there hasn't been a thread about the Racing Post ceasing publication for the foreseeable future on here since it was announced this evening.

Guess Sheikh Mohammed isn't to be relied as a bankroller again

Bring back The Sporting Life.

Just don't see how a paper with no product not publishing is a big deal. This is why the shutdown of the economy cannot go on indefinitely or the whole county will go bankrupt
 
It's a shame for the people who will lose their income/jobs, but this might actually make the space for a proper industry paper to emerge, further down the line.
 
Yes, I reckon there's probably a lot of good people employed there but the decision-makers are clueless.

Having said that, I don't read the daily paper unless I pop into a shop and that only happens once or twice a month. I take the Weekender every week form the form catalogue.

I used to contact them regularly to point out things I thought required action and got the usual platitudes in reply but noting changed.

I once filled in a feedback request but it made no difference. It seems most readers were happy with the existing format.

I have to accept that, with me, it's more than likely an age thing. I like well-written, purposeful stuff. Inane fillers do my head in. I have to accept full-page shitey bookie ads as a commercial necessity.

Anything to do with social media, lads and ladettes I want to wrap in a parcel and send to fvck.

Unsubstantiated opinionated rants have no place in such a publication.

The Weekender is a paper version of ITV Racing.

Rant Part I over for now...

Stopped subscribing to their online about a month ago, when they ramped the price by 33% and all I'm missing is, generally, fluff. Having said that, their database is (imo) the most comprehensive on the net and would be a sad loss, were it to flounder.

Having written the above, I've just noticed that ATR have form for today's racing in the US (RP doesn't) and also video replays for that form.
Maybe they should take over the RP? :)
 
RP seem to have a problem today. Been trying for hours to see individual cards for tomorrow - blanks me every time?
 
I watched Racing Posts video today ‘What A Shout’

The clown Dave Orton suggesting Allart of Nicky Hendersons could go off fav in the Marsh. Had to turn it off at that point.

Not a bad watch when Paul Kealy is on as he talks sense, They employ some right numpties though, and the arse licking of whatever trainer comes on the show is embarrassing.

One ‘pundit’ claiming the other week grey horses jumped better then any other. Who was the guest? John Hales. Its cringey and embarrassing.

Theyre also rolling out some young lad now who specialises in American flat racing. But have him on talking about the English nstional hunt season.

No idea. Only been watching them last month or 2. Been furloughed and have nothing better to do. Ill give RP some credit, Upping The Ante is very good.

Best show on air though is Road To Cheltenham with Lydia and Ruby.
 
Worth reminding everyone that the Racing Post is an utter fu*cking shitbox in every respect.

I bought it for first time in I dunno how long on Boxing Day as me and my old man were going to have an afternoon of watching and gambling on the racing on tv.
£3.90 ????!!!! It cost, how the fk do they justify that one???
 
Quality performance from Davy Russell on Luck on Sunday.

Luck has the execrable Bruce Millington on as a studio guest. Millington asks Russell a question, and Russell replies “I’ll talk to Nick all day long. You write what you want in your paper, but if it’s all the same, I’ll just talk to Nick”.

Absolute legend. :lol:
 
I’m no fan of Millington but that was brutal!
