Racing Post

Yes, I meant to say on Wednesday when I picked up my Weekender the newsagent told me he'd got notification that the price of the paper is going up to £5.90 (from the current £5.20) on Feb 12. That's a double-digit percentage rise. I'm not sure how they can justify that when they're already cutting back on what they're producing (eg, they no longer publish results for the 'down' seasons, ie Flat November-March, NH May-October), instead you have to use a QR code to access them (for 'free') online.

The paper itself was never great (I always preferred the Handicap Book/Update before they merged) but the results section* is the best going. It's the only thing that keeps me buying it (and I've repeatedly told them so.)

I will keep buying it but might increase my [currently much lower than when I was working] stakes again a tad to offset it.

If they made Raceform Interactive affordable and the online RP memberships value for money I'd probably try them again.

*It amalgamated all the best bits of both the Update and Weekender pull-outs. Nowadays the results section gives you the full result and Analysis as printed in the RP (and accessible behind the RP paywall), along with the ORs, TopSpeed ratings (waste of time) and RPRs. It includes all the Irish racing (which the old Update and Form Book didn't) as well as the better races from France and elsewhere.
