Rant 101

Kotkijet, at the end of last month, I withdrew 200 quid from a cashpoint at 5.45 am. The cash machine only gave me £180. Today I received a letter from the bank telling me that they contacted Natwest (the cash machine owner) who told them there was no discrepancy so nowt can be done to get my cash back. 10 year I have been with HSBC and have ran my account entirely within the rules and then they do this. It gets right on my wick.

Change your bank PDJ, given how long you've been with them it sounds like shocking treatment they've given you.

FWIW I lost my cashcard a year or so back, apparently my local branch in Sheffield is the only branch in the world that doesn't have it's own code so they had to send my card to another branch and then forward it on, the first card didn't arrive within 2 weeks so they cancelled it and re-ordered me another one, was without my cash card for around 3 weeks - that was annoying particularly when I had to go within 200 yards of a branch in the city centre nearly every day :(

There is too much bullying on this forum. I myself have been continually picked on by a group who go by the name of The Three Amigos and am very close to suicide

Im not happy about the price of petrol!!! Its crazy! Im thinking of selling my car, than again I willahve to rely on the buses and the trains which are far too unreliable. Any chance of it reduced in the near future???

Any chance you were pissed up and 200 might be the correct figure? I never count the 300 I take out on the rare occasion I use a cash machine.

Homer, I was on the way to a school trip and had just got up, I wasn't on the way to bed after a session. I always count money despite never being done over before. It makes me want to move my account.

After fifteen years of loyalty to Abbey I've just told them where to shove their account after they tried to charge me over £100 for being overdrawn for ONE day, during which time a couple of direct debits left my account. I spoke to one of the most condescending gits on earth when I phoned them who 'kindly' reduced the fine to £30, but not before he had lectured me on the importance of being responsible and careful with my money :angy:

I opened an account online with Smile and so far, they've been lovely. I've had several phonecalls from them, checking that everything is ok and making sure I know what I'm doing. I'm liking them alot :D

A few years ago my bank bounced a €12 direct debit as it would have put me over my agreed overdraft limit, as they obviously thought the increased risk was unacceptable. They charged me €10 for rejecting the direct debit which put me over my agreed overdraft limit anyway. I rang and threatened to move my account but they did nothing about it and neither did I.

Will - which city do you live in? I have lived in 6 different cities over the last 7 years and have been using public transport all the time. Cambridge has the best bus system I have ever encountered, and while sometimes trains have been late overall I am very happy with public transport. It gives me a chance to catch up on my reading!!

Agree with you there Ovverbruv, there are a lot of good public transport systems about - it takes as much planning as driving around and maybe a little longer.

My dad dropped me off at Stockport station to come back to University last week about 6.50pm, took him longer to get back in the car to St. Helens than it did for me to get to my flat in Sheffield city centre.

There's the added extras of motorway traffic-jams etc if you're driving on the motorways and other than the time last month I was stuck in Nottingham at 2.30am I've not had any real problems with public transport.

Getting from St Helens to Stockport by train takes a lot longer than getting from Stockport to Sheffield !

St. Helens to Stockport's impossible to do non-stop but taking off the change in Manchester it's about 30 minutes more than Stockport-Sheffield.

Pointing out that despite all the complaints about the trains they aren't all that bad or take all that much longer. I know it take's about 1 1/2 hours from door to door - St. Helens-Sheffield and about 1 3/4 hours on the train (including change in Manchester).

The Greenhill Finance advert on ATR. I'm sick to death of hearing their monotonous tripe as they read so unenthusiastically from a script. It just sounds so false and like none of them could be bothered. I wish they hadn't.
Appalling - they almost make you nostalgic for those Ocean Finance adverts :D

Ocean Finance are back again :angy: Just seen the one I hate the most. The smug look on the chops of that twit who gets rescued by a boat makes me want to hurl a brick at the gogglebox :angy:

Are they the firm who have the man walking along the tightrope?
I've not seen that one. It used to be people harping on about how helpful Ocean Finance were, giving them enough money to pay off their debts and go on holiday too. Didn't they realise it was spending money on things they couldn't afford that got them in the mess in the first place? So now I can't shout at the twits for wasting money, I just have to endure Mr Ohsosmug instead
