Monsignor was bred by Ted Dennehy, a dairy farmer who lived around the corner from Connor King.
Alas the breeder died before his race course victories.
Ml Winters bought him off of Ted and broke him before selling him on to Costellos.
Tom had no interest in him but his son who rode him said he never sat on a horse so light on his feet.
A P McCoy thought his horse unbeatable in Cheltenham Bumper and phone calls to that effect were sent to Alley Bar Kanturk owned by Winters' in laws.
Ironic that one of his former inmates should beat him at 50/1.
