Rich Ricci- the future

I ask this question innocently. Does Ricci and Mullins not have a plan find and say certain things then get us mugs to plough money in before withdrawing. (Chairman of betbright)

Douvan - All is good. Out for the season
Faugheen - He's back to his best, misses the festival (last year)
Vautour - Gold Cup or nothing, need i say more.
Annie Power - No idea.what race till probably 2 days before.

Now it could all be innocent, and we only notice it more cause he had the top class horses. Just always something seemed off to me. Especially owning horses and being well into the bookmaking business.

I've heard whisperings that Douvan might not be done for the season. Probably bullshit.

It's not beyond the wit of man that there's a bug going round at Closutton which has affected some but not others. If you look at Faugheen's first run of the season compared to today it's apples and oranges, certainly not the performances of an animal on the downgrade. I'm not saying that Faugheen will line up in March fit and raring to go but I'm finding it hard to explain why some of the Mullins yard ran like absolute drains without illness being the reason for it.

Also, even on a cold grey December he's still got shades on!

I need to wear shades pretty much whenever there's daylight. Maybe, like me, he's a touch over-sensitive to daylight.

It would have to be a pretty dull day for me to cope without shades/discomfort.

Ricci's are actually prescription glasses . So, conscious of his appearance and also being bald, he created an image to be different and stand out as an individual.

Guy looks good as far as I'm concerned and he inject some badly needed class into the game...ffs Nicky go get your teeth fixed :0).

As for the future he's not a Terry Ramsden who had a good week if he only lost 2 million quid.

Ricci is one smart cookie supposedly worth well over $150million with a first class business brain, loves his racing and could buy another 10 Min's tomorrow.

You only need listen to him to realise it's not long before that business brain sets in and how he views the importance of prize money

Loves his horses respects every dollar and he and others like him stay in the game till the day they retire to a better place.

I can't see there's anything in this as a. Betbright will take pennies ante post and b. when Vautour switched I'm sure they paid out or refunded on the Gold Cup
Ricci is businessman (made his millions in investment banking pre the financial crisis) so cannot imagine he has any involvement in day to day markets as chairman

Edit - having said that there is a little whiff of conspiracy because of the owner/bookmaker connection, but I think the bigger stink is the trainer/jockey bookmaker tie ups which are just starting to be questioned. Wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of crack down in the future

Was thinking about this myself last night and you could also add Graham Wylie as someone who might not be as prominent in 2 or 3 years time.

What on earth makes you think that? As long as he can walk and talk Graham Wylie will continue to buy good horses. The man says himself he is living the dream and has been involved for 15 years already.

He loves the game and if you care to read about the man before posting your fantasies about him you would know that.

Can't understand any racing fan who wants to have a go at successful people like JP, Ricci and Wylie who give so much to the sport even if is about self gratification.

If there's a racing fan out there who eg won the lottery who wouldn't want to be the next Rich Ricci I'd love to meet him

Tanlic, why does your tone have to be so repeatedly rude, especially when interacting with sound people with a long and established track record on here? You have interesting points of view and add to the site, but please try to grow up a little.

Only friendly banter and giving as good as I get

Like you did, I assume, when you singled out a fellow member at Christmas which I thought was exceptionally rude.... only I thought I don't know the background to this and it's not my business..but since you brought it up. :)

Calm your knickers man Luke's a big boy and can look after himself

He might change his buying pattern a bit. He bought at least 2 expensive pointers this year and with no more Potts that market might be more appealing to him

bar his beautiful wife, wylie loves nothing more than the horses. He'll keep going for sure

Watching repeats from Leopardstown, and Ricci's demise surely is being overstated - his Sharjah fell when cruising in the 2m Grade 1 Novices hurdle.

You can't even spell Baht Colin  Wylie was the man behind SAGE. Sage was and probably still is the most used accountancy package in the UK

I tried to use it myself at one stage during the 80's but couldn't get my head round it and ended up using Excel.

As for his net worth in $$$$$$'s if there was a smiley or 2 there I would assume you were joking but as there is not I can only assume your too dumb to use the internet....so let me help you.:)

Completely agree. Backed him for the Supreme and I had no problem with Min's run. He was lit up from the start and when you think that was his first time jumping fences at speed in nearly a year I thought he ran ok. His drifting for the QM is an overreaction.

I've backed Sharjah too and I'm rather puzzled at the 12/1 price still holding up, Would he still be this price if he'd jumped the last and strode clear which he was going to do?

The Moscow Flyer or the Deloitte will be the real test I suppose but I sense up to now the stable haven't fancied him themselves.
