Road to the 2022 Champion Hurdle

Damned if I know what Ann and Ian Hamilton have got to do with Saint Felicien Slim or the subject at hand:blink:

DO put the horse up in here for the race at 100/1. Wins at Haydock that 100/1 is suddenly a 16/1 - 20/1 shot.

Wouldn’t be my pick, but certainly relevant enough for the thread.

Gotcha! I remember DO metioning the horse but he most certainly never put him up at 100/1.... not that it matters

Can't say I'd fancy him at all, he'd need to find 20lbs just to prevent him from going into orbit on his way to the start in a Champion Hurdle.
Be interesting to see if he goes for the New One.
You know what they say if you shoot at the moon and miss you are sure to hit a cloud and there's plenty other races he can go for later.

He most certainly did mention him at 100/1.

I checked and he said he was 100/1 not that he backed him at 100/1 and when he posted the horse had actually been cut to 66/1 and 50/1 by Unibet and Hills and was 33/1 elsewhere

Bit of after timing? who knows? who cares?

I hope he did have few quid on at 100/1, I have no idea what Ann Hamilton is feeding her horses but her results are outstanding to date,

You only need to have watched Bavington Bob and the way he jumped the other day to realise she knows what she's doing.

That said she'd be overfacing Tommy Oscar big time if she sent him for the New One which is a stone plus above his pay grade,

If however he did do well he might turn out to be a back to lay for DO but I sincerly doubt she'll even run him

'Sanit' Roi presumably the renamed version after all my ante-posters went down the toilet last season.

Jesus, it looks a terrible renewal. How many horses rated in the 160's entered - three, maybe? This should be a penalty-kick for Honeysuckle.

I was thinking something similar.

That said, I'm not unhappy with my ante-post 'portfolio', for want of a less pretentious phrase:

Zanahiyr 33/1
Saint Roi 40/1
Tommy's Oscar 100/1

All entered.

As it is basically stage 1 of the entries for wealthy owners but has really no real indication of which horses will run

Just go look at the betting and anything over 25/1 has either no chance or is more likely to go elsewhere..... but dream on while the dreaming is good.

Saint Felicien
Buveur D’air
My Mate Mozzie

All interesting entries.

Appaently Buveur D'Air just got back from Ireland after treating an ailment.

It's all getting a bit complicated. If Haydock is lost to the weather or the ground is deperate Nicky may not run Jonbon

If that is the case then he's going to have to run Buveur D'Air and Jonbon in the Contenders at Sandown.

I hope you get a run if you have backed Buveur D'Air in the Champion Hurdle but Nicky has indicated he may run him in the stayers

That aside he has a very short time left to get him 100% but he did say he has been doing alot of work back in Ireland

Who'd be a trainer....must do his nut in at times.

My Mate Mozzie being entered should tell you a lot about this horse works at home. The yard knows what a Champion Hurdle horse looks like, high praise indeed for this one.

Quite glad you’ve put this, but for a shoddy jump at the last he’d be a Royal Bond winner.

Hendos 2 are going to be way over bet for the Supreme, and Mozzie will be a good price to have a go on. 20/1 is ridiculous.

They can praise him all they want on the gallops but his run in the Royal Bond left a lot to be desired with them finihsing in a bunch like they did.

I can't have him at all for the Supreme in what looks like an exceptional year for novices ....he looks way out of his depth.

Out of his depth is an absolutely embarrassing comment.

I agree it could be an exceptional year, but we’re basing it as if Jonbon and CH are the absolute bollocks. If they aren’t, Mozzie will be right there.

You know I have backed Honeysuckle for months for the Champion Hurdle and when I saw Constitution Hill win I sh** a brick hoping he doesn't go for the big one..

Make no mistake this horse is at least a 157+ animal already and a horse like Mozzie wouldn't finish in the same county IMO. The only possible danger is Jonbon who could or could not be even better an opinion we should all reserve until he runs again.

Looking back to when Sprinter Sacre 11/1 and the brilliant Spirit Son 5/1 were heading to the Supreme they never created anything like the interest these two have.

People always look for something to beat the best around and occasionally they get it right but these 2 look like The Denman and Kauto Star of novice hurdling and I simply can't
get enthusiastic about a horse who has done nothing in comaparison..That's why you can have 20/1 about him
