Road To The Jewson Novices' Chase

Based on the RSA and NH chase yesterday, if Aupcharlie improves for the drop back in trip he must have a better than 6/1 chance no?

Is there any reason to suggest a step down in trip will improve him though? He's actually shorter than Captain Conan now which doesn't seem right to me.

3rd in a champion bumper, was started off over 2... Won his chase over this distance easy? Been outstayed twice at 3m....

It's not guaranteed but even if he doesn't improve he still has an e/w chance surely?

Captain Conan for me needs heavy ground. Aupcharlie should to be suited to this race. He travels sweetly through his races & some may knock his resolution in a finish based on his narrow defeats at Naas and Leopardstown. I think the way those races panned out, played against him. With a previous Festival placing to his name, I anticipate a big run.

I think there are grounds to take Dynaste on - I don't like horses not running post Xmas, I wouldn't trust Pipe yet with a Cheltenham hotpot, and if both of those are poppycock, you always have Tom Scudamore to get it beat!

Benefficient for me too - worked well in the hood on Sunday and connections coming here rather than go in what looked a less competitive race (outside of the fav) in the Arkle. Trainer put the hood on Savello and it's worked the oracle with him being 2/2 since it was applied. Worried that Tony Martin said he doesn't think Cheltenham suits the horse and that he's more of an Aintree type but the owners want to run at the Festival.

Lord Windermere was always going to appreciate the step u pto 3m and looks an out and out stayer so would worry that TJ was just a better horse over the trip.

Well done guys, really pleased to see you fellas pick up a nice priced winner in a race like that.

I shouldn't say this next part as i actually fancy GMOOH later, but this David Pipe is starting to look like the new Jonjo O Neill :)

Any thoughts regarding Scu getting the pace wrong up front? Kazlian again?

Edit: Just saw your post EC1.

Scu is a liability and another Pipe grey fails to get up the hill. Too long a break from Feltham to this without a race.

Perfect ride from Cooper

Jezki had a big break as well. Another plus to his form.

Captain Conan might have won the Arkle.

Agree with that entriely cannot come to these championship races without proper match fitness. The stats back it up as well I wonder why trainers persist...
