Going by his record sales, there are many people who like his kind of music and when compared to his contempories, he has few equals.

The youngsters of today are mostly fed bland repetitive rubbish but it is their era so let them idolise like we did.

We are lucky that we were blessed with the likes of Gracie Fields and Paul Robeson :D

Not to mention.

JOHNNY RAY

GUY MITCHELL

By the way BLUE VELVET is another favourite of mine(not sung by Robbie though)

First few words of a song my mum used to sing.

In a quaint caravan lived a gypsy..........................

Unbelievable to think that Johnny Ray was the heart throb of the day..but he was.

never get tired of walking down memory lane.

Taking advantage of this sunny Monday to go for a hilly 30 amongst the Autumn leaves but will be back to reminisce..bet yer can't wait :D

My pin up girl of the time was Alma Cogan who was described as having laughter in her voice and who I remember most for her hit 'Bell Bottom Blues'
she died of cancer aged only 34.

Others of note were Teresa Brewer - Mario Lanza - Frankie Laine - the one and only Stan Freburg - Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.

Top shows on the radio were Dick Barton with his side kick Snowy White which was on at 7.15 every night for only 15 mins but unmissable and attracted 15 million listeners !
I remember that if we did anything wrong we were threatened with going to bed and missing the programme.

Wilfred Pickles ' Have a go'

Top comedian was Al Read who was from Lancashire and portrayed the working class life.
