At the Start
Botox-faced bitch and Big Brother presenter Davina McCall is Paul Merton's guest tonight on Room 101 and among the items she wishes to destroy is the music of Frank Sinatra.
Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion and she may really believe that the world would be a better place had the man who many believe to be the greatest exponent of the popular song had never given his music to an appreciative audience. I'll be interested in her rationale.
Davina is of course eminently qualified to judge music and careers in the world of entertainment. It is little known that she sang professonally with a band and later went solo, at one time as a singing waitress in a Paris restaurant.
After she failed an audition to become a "showgirl" at the Moulin Rouge she returned to London and was for a while a "nightclub hostess".
It was during this period that she became heavily addicted to heroin, ecstasy and cocaine.
Ex-lover Eric Clapton, who had produced her demo disc when she had tried unsuccessfully to crack it as a pop-singer, now used his contacts to get her a job presenting on MTV and gave her plenty of help in getting off the drugs.
Apart from her presenting role on Big Brother Davina has had a number of other television opportunities, most of which, sadly, have been panned by the critics and have not found favour with the audiences.
Who can forget - or perhaps, who can remember - Sam's Game in 2001, a Friends-style TV sitcom (also starring Ed Byrne), which was slammed by the critics and pulled after only one series?
Then in 2005 there was her series He's Having a Baby, yet another effort which received poor ratings. It was during the same year that she appeared in 99 Ways to Lose Your Virginity.
Despite her record the BBC persevered with her and in December 2005 it was announced that she would be hosting her own BBC One prime-time chat show called Davina in early 2006. This she did, only for it to be axed after receiving abysmal ratings.
Although popular with many, McCall's presenting style is not without its critics and she was voted 95th worst Briton in Channel 4's poll of the 100 Worst Britons in 2003.
Here she is displaying her half-French ancestry:
