Sam The Man

Good for him,his ego and self confidence needs a good boost,(anybody else sense the sarcasm dripping off that comment in bucketloads!!)

Hmmm, I wouldn't want him on the horse if I owned it.
We've already had that privilege, Dom, as part owners of Bally Conn.

I know Grey, I was there!!! The choice was not mine either!!

I don't think that he's the greatest pilot in the world over fences, which is why I wouldn't choose to jock him up on one of mine in a chase especially, least of all on a horse who is known to take a chance at a fence or two.

So with all the concern about his jockey, what chance he'll go off a backable price and win handsomely, thus confounding the prophets of doom?

Surely PN would not use him if he was as bad as all that would he? The liberties KS takes with some fences and his last run would put me of more than the jockey.

People are making a big deal out of it - off level weights he'd have won by half the track. So he didn't cruise up to the leaders like he usually does and go past them etc. but Nicholls told everyone before the race that he'd left plenty to work on. In the circumstances it was a cracking run, there aren't too many horses who could give a stone or so to a Grade 1 winner in his own back yard and go down very narrowly.

Evs is a great price for Saturday.

On paper his run against Monets Garden (who didnt run to his best imo) looks very good and of course it is. I just worry about him being scrubbed along after just going a circuit....getting lazy or losing interest.

Perhaps the fact that Kauto Star needed to be scrubbed along far earlier than in any of his runs before is attributable to the fact that he was quite a ways from peak fitness, but, even so, given the reaction of Nicholls, I reckon he might just need 3 miles to be seen at his best this year.. Nicholls also reported him to have strengthened up considerably over the summer..

Didn't seem much wrong with the ride Sam Thomas gave to the 'superhorse', Kauto Star.

The horse seemed to jump well enough for him and Sam sat tight when Kauto threatened to go into orbit at one of the fences. And the usual last fence blunder didn't seem quite as bad as usual.

And my worries that Exotic Dancer needed McCoy were proved wrong as well, the horse seemed quite happy with Geraghty.

Have to eat humble pie over the ride Sam Thomas gave to KS - I thought he was a short price to deck him! He gave him a very good ride (bit of panicking going into the 2nd last, seemingly changing his mind from going for a big one to lifting his hands and taking a pull!!) and gave Mr Pointment another good ride today.

Naturellement....

I'd look a bit daft if I wasn't considering that I've been banging on that he'll be a lovely chaser to follow ever since he won his bumper at Bangor!!!! :D
