A thrilling weekend of sport all round.
I’ve got several fancies for Saturday, three of them win bets, really, and the fourth a nice ew price.
Firstly, I do think
Editeur Du Gite – 1.15 Cheltenham 5/2 Win
can win this; he ran a lovely prep lto and has a touch of class about him. With only 16 rules races behind him, he’s a lightly – raced gelding and there might yet be further improvement in him. He’ll like the ground and 2m is his trip. He looks a good bet.
Another with a very decent chance is:
Flowing Cadenza – 1.22 Hereford 7/2 Win
It looked like a pleasing debut for the Williams yard lto and, given that she’s another lightly raced sort, I would expect significant improvement for this second stable appearance. She’s upped in distance and has the breeding to appreciate the longer trip. Jockey Shane Quinlan has a good strike rate for the stable.
Nina The Terrier – 3.35 Cheltenham 7/2 Win
Has been rubbing flanks with some smart types over 2m but has been shaping like she needs further and this 2m 4f should fit the bill nicely, I think.
Lastly, this might have been my bet of the day, were I certain that this good ground will suit.
War Lord – 1.50 Cheltenham 12/1 Ew
He’s another who been keeping good company: quite lofty, in fact. I really like the cut of his jib in this handicap, but the trouble is that all his form has come with cut in the ground. If the ground was riding g/sft, I think he’d be an outstanding bet. As it is, I have to back him ew but there’s that nagging doubt.
