Well, what a wonderful yuletide that was in the Yorick household. More love than I could shake a stick at lol.
And what a race the King George was, eh? I'd be looking for Jingo Baie in the Gold Cup.
Of course, there's a feast on offer today and I'll be doing a few with the usual wan conviction but I'll enjoy the racing for sure.
Firstly, I've been looking at the Welsh National for a few days and have come up with, I suppose, A 'Welshfolio' of four. Had he run, I'd have plumped for Heracles Westwood but in his absence I'll be backing one who ran against him last January, giving him 9Lbs and beaten just 4L or so:
Deafening Silence - Chepstow 2.50 20/1 Ew
I'll probably do a little combination tricast by adding these three:
Collector's Item - Backed this one last time out when he won but Young Brogan earned his fee by having to chivvie him along from the start: a fantastic ride but the horse had a hard race that day and I do wonder whether he'll recover for this.
Monbeg Genius- I wonder whether this might have further improvement in him. A good 4th last year and a couple of pounds lighter here, now that stables back on song, he could be value Ew.
Dom Of Mary
I've backed this horse every time he's won and one thing he does do is stay. I have him down in the horses to follow competition last season and he'll be staying on when others have cried enough, I think.
Here are three from my alerts that I'll be doing:
Hansard - Kempton 1.55 10/1 Ew
I had him marked down as one worth following after his unlucky run on his debut at Kempton. All the dogs are barking Lump Sum in this but I'll stick with mine Ew and see what happens.
Bowensonfire - Leopardstown 2.20 Win 0/30
They've been saving this one and I'm hoping that today is the day.
Madara - Wetherby 2.45 0/30 Win
He's definitely capable of winning but I do wonder if they'll want a bigger pot than this. He's got to be done, though, back at 2m.
I also need to doing Now Is The Hour (3.00 Leopardstown) Ew.
A lovely day's racing and let's hope I get a run for my money.
