Good morning.
Yesterday was blighted, quite honestly, by the withdrawal of Mirsky in the Mile. I'd been waiting for two seasons expecting an O'Meara 'plan' to come off, only for the colt to fall 'lame' before the race. Well gutted. I expect them to come back and win it next year. (I do talk some twaddle, don't I?)
Anyway, Mirsky Nr and Lexington Blitz placed at 6's ensured a loss-free day so not bad. I would say that the Glorious meeting has been greatly marred, though, by the change in going and some, quite frankly, weird results, don't you think?
I had been super-sweet on the chances of Holkham Bay in the Stewards but, again, no show. I wonder if the Portland might on the agenda.
I have been keeping a weather eye on Jakajaro and Korker of late and They'll be my two Ew. I got 16's earlier on for the former, but missed the 25's because I wasn't sure if he would run. After all, he was out only a few days ago. I thought Jamie misjudged it on that day but who knows? Anyway, I'm on.
Korker has had a couple of, let's say, eventful outings the last twice. I notice that, for all his runs over 6f, it's 5f that he's won all his races over so one might be tempted to see him as a 5f animal but his full brother, Adapt To Dan won over a mile and I don't see 6f as any problem.
So, my two:
Jakajaro - 3.05 Goodwood 16/1 Ew 6 places
Korker - 3.05 Goodwood 25/1 Ew 6 places
I can't resist having a little punt on:
Hallejujah U - Goodwood 1.55 16/1 Ew 4 places
He's down in class, having run his last two in group company. Today's handicap may be more up his street and his last run was a decent show against the hugely impressive Scandinavia. I think that the 16's looks great value.
3 x Ew singles
2 x ew Doubles
Both my Stewards horses are drawn high but who knows what the draw-Gods will have decreed. Another worth mentioning off a high draw is Seven Questions and a 'lowy' might be old Orazio; we shouldn't forget his Wokingham run last season off 100.
Good luck
