Well, this certainly has been a fallow period for me and the horses. At last, after all these years, I’m learning that if none of my noted horses are going, there’s no need to be bottom trawling among the class 5 and 6 looking for winners. So, that means less and less involvement from day to day but hoping my patience will bear fruit.

Today is hardly rich fare with only Sandown and Chester offering a reasonable diet even if not the finest cuisine.

As we come to the discernable change of season, when the leaves begin to brown, harvest spiders lace the garden and flowers show their second and final flush, we may be reminded that the onset of autumn will begin throwing up those surprise results enabled by changes of coat, changes of going and the long season taking it’s toll on those that have been on the go since spring. It’s also the season to look out for our noted horses appearing in lesser races, perhaps.
Anyway, today I’ve found a couple that are of interest:

Galeron -Sandown 1.50 14/1 Ew 4 places.

Galeron has run better than the form figures suggest this term I thought he ran a sound race . in the Hunt Cup and gave an even better show last time he ran at Sandown. Last time out is one to chalk off, according to post-race veterinary inspection. He’s versatile ground wise and although I had thought he might need further than a mile, they’ve kept him at 7f and I’ll trust connections on that one.

Good Show – 5.25 Chester 11/2 Ew 4 places

It could be that this one needs soft ground but I’m willing to pay to find out since it’s well possible that he can defy top weight on form shown thus far in a lightly-raced career. He’d been off for a considerable period before his run last time out at Goodwood and that may have sharpened him up nicely. He’s now below his LWR , too.

2 x Ew singles
Ew Double

That’s all from me for my Saturday racing. To be honest, my full attention is on the closing of the transfer window, hoping that Palace will get their work done before the window closes on Sept 1st. I’m glad, too, that Palace have made it through to the group stage in the Europa Conference and our fixtures for that are now known. I’m well excited by the thought of a trip to watch them in Strasbourg, NE France.

Good luck today.

I'm trying really hard not to be offended by this gratuitous snub for the Beverley Bullet on the glorious Westwood plus the opening handicap over Beverley's underrated 1m2f course!

Ok, ok. Don't get your drawers in a twist. Of course, now you mention it, I'm blown away by this world class listed event. So much so that I've actually looked at it.

Kerdos would have sound claims but I'll wait for him until the ground eases, I think.

If threatened with violence, I would venture a tiny shekel on Shagraan, who looks good Ew value @ 11/1

There. You can pick up your toys now.

What Yorick actually meant was "have the lot on Shagraan win only as he will hose up after Ian's horse appears to go wrong."

I'm claiming co-credit for this by forcing him to look at the race.

I just don't know where I'd be without you, Ian.
11/1 winner. Who would've thunk it.
