A fine example of early bets being laced liberally with the unknown, yesterday.

So, all my guesses today will be small and lightly - pencilled.

Firstly, I'm gutted that Mr Alan, a long range fancy for the November Handicap is not in the race. This looked a certain target looking at his run in the same race two seasons ago. Yet nowhere to be seen. I don't know: racing, eh?

Firstly, I'll have a go at a short-priced treble:

Tedley - Wincanton 1.09 Win
Rubaud - Wincanton 2.55 Win
Changing Man - Wincanton 3.30 Win

Three Ew's with:

Aintree 1.30 Reverend Hubert 7/1 Ew
Idalko Bihoue - Aintree 2.40 6/1 Ew
Volvano - Doncaster 3.45 7/1 Ew
3 x Ew singles
Ew Trixie

In the November Handicap, apart form Volvano, I could see Stressfree and Insanity running well, too.

I'll have a bit on Equinus (12.55 Aintree), who's turned up on my alerts for God knows what reason. Well, this is his first venture over fences so he might worth a little look in this four-runner field.

As someone said on TV this morning, "Something for everyone" today but I've only 'done' a handful of races, one at Aintree, two at Wincanton and two at Doncaster, not going in too heavily on anything.

As I wrote, difficult to win but the sport was great. Lightly-pencilled for a reason. I managed to find a couple for the future, though, so ok.
