Saturday Thread: Sandown, Musselburgh & Irish Gold Cup

Mambonumberfive must not be running. I didn't see any indication of that this week.He must be going to the Kingmaker or the Game Spirit. Disappointing.

Sandown is scheduled to go ahead with the original card, by the way, following this morning's inspection, with the caveat that further heavy rain may lead to a further inspection.

I haven't looked at - and have no intention to do so - today's Wincanton card but they've apparently moved the rails and fences (to the centre of the track) out, presumably to give the inner ground some recovery time. Between the heavy ground and the extra distances to be covered I reckon you'll want mudlovers and bags of stamina at the trip for the respective races.

Not my kind of day's racing.

Sandown 3:42
Fortunate Man 9/4

Half of these want 4m and Pic Roc and Hunter Legend while well handicapped just can't seem to win a race. I'd fancy Kelce to frank the form of Fortunate Man's win the last day this weekend which he only got 4 lbs for, ground won't be a problem and Cobden will be out to impress in one of his first rides for JP.

2.02 Sand. Escapeandevade 5-1….Rath Gaul Hill 10-1? 3.10 Roaring Conquest 7-1, both e.w. 3.42 Hunter Legend 11-1 (dare ya) followed Snipe for two years, then he comes in 9-2 in a Hunter Chase
I was looking at Rath Gaul Hill, but will let my heart rule my head, and follow the good doctor, Dr TJ Eckleburg instead. He's a good handicapper on his day and I'd like to see him return to his very best.

I like the one DO's mentioned, Sole Solution, aswell.

A bit pissed off now.last night I decided to wait until morning to see what was on and what wasn't and hoping for 2 of mine to drift.
Spike Jones was 22 /1
And
Moon d'orange was 22/1 and was shocked to see he's 6/1 now.

Surprised it's 6/1. John McConnell's horses are running diseased.

I was the same and ended up taking a win-only to smaller stakes at 17/2 but I do want Teddy Blue to win. I'm just not sure if today is the day for it. The one I don't want to win is Tommy's Oscar. I saw Scu put it up this morning and I just wonder if he got a word, considering his brother has one in the race and Scu didn't seem to keen on that.

I was a wee bit worried when Moon d'Orange raced prominently early since it is usually ridden from the back, a tactic I don't like at Musselburgh, but it seems not to have made any difference to the horse who continues to disappoint. My gut was telling me that JPR One was actually a fair bit better this season than before but I just felt one of the novices might end up doing him. A fine front-running tactical performance from both horse and jockey and well done to anyone who backed it.

That was a super ride from Kielan Woods. He closed the door on the rail just at the right time to make it awkward for Kala Conti.
