Well racing's finished and just realised there's a movie on BBC2 about Secretariat. It's halfway through but you may wish to record it and watch it from the beginning another time.

Thanks Tanlic, didn't realise that existed. Will certainly look forward to watching that. However what's on at the moment is not the same thing.

Thats the one - its not the same heartstringing as Seabiscuit but its nicely shot (still a few dodgy race shots!)

Not anywhere near as good as Seabiscuit [not possible anyway] but was enjoyable. Certainly want to dip into the utube stuff that Tanlic has mentioned. Annoyingly, as a complete billynomates, on the rare occasion that someone visits me or the phone rings it's always when I've set part of the day aside for watching something I've been looking forward to, and it happened again so I missed the beginning. Would like to watch it again, though. A film I've ben meaning to rewatch for a long time [again a film primarily aimed at children] is Kings of the Wind, about the Arab stallions that first came here. Don't think it's been on the telly for years.

As racing enthusiasts it's easy for us to spot racing balls ups in movies but it doesn't affect the every day movie fans enjoyment.

All things considered and taking of my racing hat I thought Secretariat was an excellent movie but Sea Buscuit was brilliant mainy due to Toby McGuire (ok he looked abut gay in Spiderman 3 but you can always be perfect) I remember on it's release hardly anyone went to see it but within a week word getting around about TB perfomance the cinemas were mobbed.

My funniest memory of a racing movie balls up is when they were mixing shots from the BBC coverage of both Corbier's and Aldaniti's Grand National together and wondering why on earth would they do that......guess the close ups were better

I found a copy of King of the Wind online a while back - rewatched it and its still as good as I remebered. More a story than a race tale but very enjoyable.

I dont mind the film makers making a balls up of an "in race" shot but if they are trying to get racegoers to watch it surely taking a bit more time to make it more realistic wouldnt hurt :)

The man who directed Seabiscuit is first class. When I re watched the Hunger Games recently [my favourite film of 2012] I watched 'the making of' and realised it was the same guy. Amazing attention to detail. I agree about Toby Maguire as well. Did Secretariat [eventually!] breed anything of note?
