Terrible luck for Shay Barry in the 7.00 hurdles at Ballinrobe - having taken a spare ride, his horse comes down as the horses head for finishing straight. Not nice, but not too bad, until he semi-sits up and gets absolutely clobbered face on by (I think) STONEHATCHETMAD, who had no way to avoid landing and striding straight into him. Shay was lying flat, but could be seen moving a leg, and has now been taken off to hospital.

Let's hope to God he's going to be all right.

DAVID CASEY and Shay Barry were taken for x-rays at Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar following separate incidents at Ballinrobe on Wednesday evening.
Casey suffered his injury when he was unseated from the Tom Taaffe-trained Sir Whinstone on the way to the start for the opening 2m maiden hurdle on the card.
Although able to walk unaided back to the weigh room, Casey complained of pain to his left arm and was sent for an x-ray.
As a result of Casey's injury, Shay Barry came in for the ride on Fair Dilemma in the 2m4f handicap hurdle but his mount took a tired fall at the last hurdle.
Following the fall Barry was thrown into the path of the Jim Dreaper-trained Shernaz, who was unable to avoid the stricken jockey, landing a heavy blow.
Barry was subsequently sent for x-rays with a suspected rib injury.

Thank goodness for body protectors - I'm sure that a 'suspected' rib injury would've been a couple of them thoroughly broken and possibly worse in years gone by. Struck directly to his front, poor lamb. Best wishes for both lads' recovery.
