I know I've mentioned this a hell of a lot over the past month or so but mainly due to my total excitement at my clubs first game.

Just an update really on how we got on. I was injured due to having a varicus vein removed recently and was unable to play on doctors instructions. We were 3-4 to 1-4 down with 8 minutes to go, we got it back to a draw and had a chance in the last minute to win the game (I was umpiring) but our left full forward put it over the bar.

Was really enjoyable and was good chatting to the oposition etc including one who smoked a pipe (made a lot of the team members day) and had a good night out after.

Two questions.

First, why didn't your team win if your player put the ball over the bar in the final minute when the scores were level? Didn't he get one point for that or did you, as umpire, forget the rules? :)

Second, was your man smoking his pipe during the game?
 
Sorry Grey it was a typo, he put it wide from about 4 yards right of the posts and about 7 yards out. To be fair there goalie was closing him down but it did go wide (was at my end).

Defo had tobacco in his pipe. We even got some port in for £1.50 a measure.
