Good luck, Kathy. I love going to auctions, though it's some time since I did. Whatever doesn't sell, and comes back, I'll car boot at Plumpton (they have one every Sunday that they don't race, only £8 to set up a stall), and I quite enjoy either going to them or doing them. In the reduced living space I'm now in, it's going to be just the latter, though, until I get things down to a minim!

Krizon, I would love to car boot come of my stuff. Do you know when the next car boot is at Fontwell as it would be a great opportunity to meet up. I have a van load of stuff to shift and I think you would be an absolute bonus to give me a hand shifting it all if you wanted to combine resourses one day. More than happy to give any proceeds to a horse related charity too.

Just an idea.... :)

Both Fontwell and Plumpton do car boots every Sunday, Kathy. Plumpton has been sensible enough not to hold them when they're racing, though! They start around 8.00 a.m. and each cost £8 a car.

You'll need a folding pasting table, which I think B&Q or Homebase do for around £7, preferably one of those tummy bags or whatever they're called for a float, and lots of plastic bags for the shoppers to haul their booty away. No need to put prices on things, but it's a good idea to be prepared to take off up to 25% of whatever you have in mind, e.g. item for £20, you're prepared to take £15. Car boots won't allow the sale of alcohol, knives, guns, or other offensive weapons, so I should keep Grandpa's miniature firing cannon for an auction house! :D

Plumpton is much nearer for me, to be honest, and being the lazy sod that I am, it means I can spend a bit longer in bed! Let me know when you're ready and we can double-up and blow some of the dosh on a good pub lunch afterwards! Barney is allowed on site, too, so perhaps he can wear a little coat advertising your bargains?

Thanks, Bets, for the info. I was given the bins by an elderly gent who lives in the flat below me. They're very wonky and unusable, but a bit of fun. However, I honestly don't want more bric-a-brac and that price gives me a good idea of what to flog 'em for. I had been thinking of a tenner, so I'll put them on for £15 and see how they go. I've got several framed racing prints to let go, too, so Plumpton will be an ideal venue!

  Blimey, they're in good nick! I don't know what mine have been up to, but they've had a much harder life. I wondered if they were the sort of bins that you put a coin in a slot in the back of your seat to release and use, rather like I saw in America (I think)? Anyway, mine are more, er, 'weathered'!

Krizon, I have never been to Plumpton before, so let's go there. A friend of mine (you have already met) would like to come too. I think we will have a great time as she is a great laugh too. Boyfriend will supply (and drive) the van - assuming we can take a van on site. Let's compare diaries and see what we can do in the next few weeks.

Barney can't wait to meet you. B)

PS Thanks for the tips.
