The RP has a front page with "sire de Grugy recovers from surgery see page 4 "

Anyone know the story before I sneak into WHSmiths tomorrow to look??

Wilson thanks very much :)

Not colic or something dramatic then. The RP is getting more and more Daily Mail......

Let's hope SDG gets well and gives SS a few races this season...

Surgery is surgery all the same Fizz.
You do not know how animals will react to anaesthetic, recovery, sepsis , laminitis or gut function.
No surgery is routine especially in horses.
Remember Arazi ?
I do hope the bonny horse recovers to full ability also needless to mention.

My favourite horse at the moment; was devastated to read this. Always remember the Devon horse that broke a leg when coming round from an operation [Coome Hill?].

I know the risks of surgery all too well, having had a pony have surgery recently and I've had about 7 operations on my brain myself. I was just relieved it wasn't something that was very major like colic as I've just had a friend lose her horse through colic.

I'm very very glad SDG is ok, and that it's not somthing (hopefully) that will keep him off the track this coming season.

Horses coming round from a GA is quite terrifying. But the anaesthetics are getting better and they come round quicker than they used to. Human ones do generally as well, I compare how I came round from my first surgery 11 years ago to the one I had last November, it's totally different!

It was Coome Hill, so sad.

That Wednesday in March was a special day, All the so called shrewdies were desperate to lay him in the run up to the festival.

Hop all is well with the big lad.

I was a complete wreck watching the race; always go on the Tuesday but really wish we'd been there that day.

Just read his facebook....didn't know he could write:blink:

He says he's fine which is good news.

I'm glad because I can't wait to see Sprinter Sacre kick his sorry ass :D

I can see no reason why the odds would be much different than they were when Sprinter Sacre (179) 1/4 beat Sizing Europe (172) 6/1, considering Sizing Europe had won 6 of his last 7 races prior to Cheltenham.

If anything Sprinter Sacre could go off at as low as 1/5 considering he was rated a 188 by the BHA and Sire De Grugy was on 171 at Sandown.

I may be biased but I have always said Sprinter Sacre is not the best since Arkle but the new Arkle, whereas Sire De Grugy wouldn't be in my first 10 when it comes to 2 mile champion chasers as his victory over Somersby doesn't even come close to what many others have achieved.

Anyone who wants to back Sire De Grugy should do so in the Tingle Creek if they clash because the bookies will be willing to take the chance Sprinter Sacre might go wrong again or need the race although the chances of the latter are slim as Nicky will only run him if he thinks he's spot on

1/5 for a horse that will have been off the track for close to a year with murmurs?

You are either on the buckets or the worlds tightest bookie

Unless I misunderstand you or you didn't read what I said I have to ask...........Are you on the wacky baccy?

You asked me to price up the QMCC clash? and that, I assume means he'd be over his troubles, back to his best and will have run at least twice beforehand if all is well.

So if he makes Cheltenham he won't have been off the course for a year will he?

Did I not just say the time to back Sire De Grugy was if they met in the Tingle because then the odds would be closer? That would probable come up with 4/5 Sprinter 6/4 SDG I imagine.

If you want QMCC AP prices they are there for all to see and you don't have to ask me.

I've taken every price they have put up over the past 6 months and it will cost me not 1 penny if he is declared to run in the Tingle creek.

He's now clear fav with most at 5/2-3/1 and SDG available at 4/1 and if he is in the 4 days and it looks like he'll run in the Tingle Creek you'll have more chance of frying and egg on the moon than getting 3000 to 1000 with any of them. They might lay you at odds against for money but at a guess they'd offer around 7/4 despite quoting him higher

If he wins the Tingle Creek and look like he's back to his old self he'll be 2/5 in a flash.

If by any chance SDG runs and he kicks him into touch then he'll be 1/5 on the big day ...........if you disagree with any of that can I suggest you go discuss it with my old mate The Ante Post King you'll find him on TRF :D
