Six Times Champion Tipster Paul Jacobs

Paul Jacobs says that he want to have a punter on his podcast " The Racing Alternative " with Stephen Darbyshire. I haven't seen this yet but can think of two or three members on here with strong opinions that I think would be great to be on there.

please don't pick uncle smart arse as the rest of the forum may drown in smugness overload.
As previously stated, I enjoyed doing a few podcast-style broadcasts on Twitter Spaces and YouTube with someone last year, but that project held unique appeal to me when I was invited to do it and I'd be highly unlikely to want to appear on one in different circumstances, with different personnel, and probably even less likely to be invited anyway, rendering the whole discussion academic.

I've only heard Slim on air a couple of times but he was highly entertaining both times IMO - he did a good interview with Simon Nott and he was a breath of fresh air on the Barstewards Enquiry, which I listened to in its early days, but felt got a bit repetitive after a while, so I stopped bothering.

No idea what Slim's future plans, if any, are, but he'd definitely be worth tuning in for.

It probably involves a drink.

Have you any links to the podcasts you did Ian id be interested to have a listen or a watch whatever.

We only did five and I wasn't the "Producer," but there are still a couple floating around and I'm going to post a link to the one (the second) that I think was the best.

It's all very light hearted and gently irreverent - it's basically the world of racing seen through the eyes of a young lady with me providing a bit of satire (or what passes for satire with me) - enjoy! (or decide it's not for you after ten seconds)....

Slim has been on the Bartewards who re3fuse to be sponsore3d. He'l have to answer but it w2ould be difficult to outswear them.

The problem for me with the Barstewards was that while, for sure, they were discussing industries (racing and betting) beset with problems and I agreed with many (though not all) of their criticisms, because precious little seems to change in the racing and betting industries from week to week, or even year to year, it became like Groundhog Day as it seemed to me to be the same complaints every week and, even if I agree with an ongoing gripe, there's a limit to how many times I want to listen to it being aired.

The other issue is that they all seemed to be of my generation broadly speaking and the Show was consequently full of Seventies and Eighties references and viewing that period through rose-tinted spectacles.

I doubt if anyone under the age of 50 could relate to much of what they were saying.

It was consequently a much-needed jolt when they had Slim on it.

Interesting to hear the interview with CJ but i must admit I got a bit distracted trying to work out how many times Ian said " fair enough " and waiting for the next reply

At the height of it, my Spaces on X were getting a minimum of 10k listens. How reliable those metrics are, I can’t say, but we were 10x bigger than any other racing or betting Spaces. There is a huge audience for honesty, controversy, and just saying what you see. I'm polarising, sure, but the haters never realised how much they were in the minority. The numbers always told the real story. There’s no way back for me on X and I’m fine with that. I had a hell of a lot of fun doing it, but there wasn’t much in it for me bar angry phone calls from the people I spoke about.

That's interesting - I honestly had no idea what other Podcasts got.

IIRC we built up quickly to about 2,000 plus listens across Spaces and YouTube which I thought was alright for what was essentially just a bit of harmless banter.

It was definitely fun to do.

I was doing 20-25k for the big Spaces. We were operating in a different league of listener interest. Mostly based on, "what the f%*& will he say tonight."

But the record speaks for itself.
