Sizing Europe

Fever needs to win this with his head in his chest, if he's to be considered a serious contender for the King George.

Not sure about that Grassy. He strikes me as a stuffy sort of horse that's always going to be vulnerable until he's fully tuned up. In some ways I wouldn't be disappointed if he gets turned over as long as he jumps well. It'll add some value to his price at Christmas and I'll still be interested.

I ain't buying it, Paul.

He has won on his debut each racing season, and If he can't beat this lot in receipt of so much weight, then I'd very-much be looking to oppose him at Kempton.

FTO or not, he needs to be winning this with comparative ease. Interesting to see whether Ruby settles him (he should) or lets him bomb along like previously.

You're asking him to beat a top class horse rated 165 with significantly more fencing experience and the benefit of a run with his head in his chest Grassy.

Those two first time out wins you mention were against significantly inferior opposition, weren't impressive, and he didn't look to be anywhere near his best until Spring in either season. With the King George as his target Mullins will have him more forward this year but he'll be well short of what you can expect in December, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him turned over.

As I said I wouldn't be unduly concerned if he was, but I'd be delighted if you're right and he does! :)

As I'm in your neck of the woods tonight I look forward to discussing over a pint or several with you and Digger. Digger's far more sensible than Granger so I'm sure you'll crumble fast and issue the retraction before the race!

By your own calculations, Fever only needs to run to 155 to get Sizing into a race, Paul - and that assumes Sizing runs up to 165, which has to be questionable given race conditions. I don't think this race should take a lot of winning, to be honest, and anything other than an authoritative victory, will be filed somewhere between 'Disappointing' and 'Very Disappointing', as far I'm concerned.

Enjoy the tram-ride - will see you at half-seven.

I'm not that far away from Clonmel and an incredible amount of rain has fallen overnight. If the race goes ahead it will surely be on heavy going.

Did it as he was entitled and expected.

Visions of him and Cue Card up top in the King George certainly wets the appetite. Petrol will be thin on the ground at the end mind.

Would like to see Sizing freshened up and have one last penalty kick of a race.

Aye; although they'll go a better pace, freshness could be his biggest problem, should his trainer hold him back for a race 7 weeks away.
