Smoking Ban......total?

Heres a couple of Bill Hicks quotes that made me laugh.

Non-smokers die every day. Sleep tight! I know you've employed some kind of eternal life fantasy because you've chosen not to smoke. Let me be the first to pop that bubble and send you hurtling back to reality - because you're dead too. And you know what doctors say? "****, if only you'd smoked - we'd have the technology to help you. It's you people dying from nothing who are screwed". I've got all sorts of neat **** waiting for me - oxygen tent, iron lung...it's like going to Tandy.

The worst kind of non-smokers are the ones that come up to you and cough. That's pretty flippin cruel isn't it? Do you go up to cripples and dance too?

  Btw ive just sparked up a fag as i quoted them.

GRIFFIN just hope your new arrival/bairn don't come out smoked! through all that passive inhalation? youv'e had to endure over the years?.......
She is the reason I started maternity leave as soon as I was able. Breathing in other peoples smoke could've affected her birth weight and also could've caused her to come early. She hasn't got a choice, people who smoke do.

But EURO... according to government figures???? the rate of hassle/ rowdyism as reduced owing to people having a longer time to consume their ale rather than trying to cram it into a given set reduced time............. :o

But they don’t obviously produce figures to show if cirrhosis of the liver as gone up.... but aint this what you would expect from these!! and their spin doctors????? they have more of these than G-P's in the country..............

And this piece of research would suggest that passive smoking is four times as toxic as actually smoking:

Passive smoking
Passive smoking as in what though ? Surely thats based on someone blowing smoke into someones mouth or nose from a very very close range constantly ?

If not im quite shocked, and will stop blowing smoke in my wifes face immediately.

He did. Two more:

How much do you smoke a day, dude? Pack and a half? You little puss...Why don't you just put the fuckin' skirt on, and swish around for us? 'Pack and a half, I smoke a pack and a half..' I go through two lighters a day, dude.

you never see my attitude in the press, that's what bugs me. You never see my point of view. For instance, gays in the military. Now, I dunno how y'all feel about it... here's how I feel about it: Anyone dumb enough to want to be in the military should be allowed in. End of fucking story. That should be the only requirement. I don't care how many push ups you can do, put on a helmet, go wait in that foxhole we'll tell you when we need you to kill somebody. You know i'm sick of hearing military guys saying "The esprit de corps will be affected, and we are such a moral..." Excuse me, aren't y'all hired fucking killers? Shut up! You are thugs and when we need you to go blow the **** outta a nation of little brown people we'll let you know. Until then... Where do the fucking military get all these morals? "We are the military; is that a village of children and kids? Where's the napalm? (explosion) I don't want any gay people hanging around me when I'm killing women and kids. I just dont wanna see it.

I think the stats show that your risk of pancreatic cancer is more than doubled by smoking

Well i dont know about that, but my mum had pancreatitis once through drinking to much on holiday. ;)

Nasty - as we know on here as Nick Hagan a much missed forumite died of acute pancreatitis. A rather different problem from chronic pancreatitis that can flare up from drinking and settle down.

Very different from pancreatic cancer . Although there is apparently a new treatment for that illness until recently the survival rate was terrible 5% made 5 years from diagnosis

I knew a woman of 67 who died from pancreatic cancer a few months ago, only a few weeks after diagnosis. Her mother died of the same illness at about the same age, again, only weeks after diagnosis. Both were moderate smokers.

It's a terrible disease, the survival rate must be one of the lowest among all types of cancer. There doesn't really seem to be any sort of effective treatment for it.

It is very grim indeed . The good news is that apparently there is a tremendous new treatment being trialled in the US with excellent results . The problem will be its cost .
